Avolon firms up order for 15 A330neo air-craft

Avolon, the Dublin-based, global aircraft leasing firm, has firmed up its contract for 15 A330neo aircraft. Avolon became one of the launch cus-tomers of the A330neo after signing its initial commitment in July 2014 at the Farnborough In-ternational Airshow. The A330-800neo and the A330-900neo are two new members of the Air-bus Widebody Family launched in July 2014 with

traversing a storm cluster during the minutes prior to its disap-pearance.

unverified reports have also surfaced that AirAsia didn’t have permission to fly from Surabaya to Singapore on the Sunday morning that Flight 8501 crashed into the Java Sea. Transport Ministry spokesman J.A. Barata said the airline was only permit-ted to fly the route on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Satur-days. “So AirAsia has committed a violation of the route that has been given to them,” Mr. Barata told The Wall Street Journal. He said the company’s flights from Surabaya, Indonesia’s second-largest city, to Singapore had consequently been suspended.

As of this writing, 30 bodies have been recovered from the sea but the search for the black box and flight recorder continues.

CarVal Investors, a leading global alternative in-vestment manager, signed an agreement to ac-quire a majority holding of AerFin Limited from its current owner, Bob James. Mr. James will remain as the Managing Director and CEO going forward and will retain 20 percent of the com-pany. “The acquisition of AerFin is a compelling investment in itself and in addition enables Car-Val to invest effectively in a dynamic and growing market in a more strategic way,” said Justin Brad-burn, managing director for CarVal Investors. “Bob James and the AerFin team will bring tre-mendous value to our ability to invest in end-of-life aircraft and engines.” AerFin was formed in 2010 by Bob James who has over 34 years in the aviation industry with asset trading and techni-cal management. AerFin specializes in providing end-of-life solutions for investors, MROs and air-lines exposed to technically challenging assets. EBITDA to Sept 2014 was in excess of uS$4m.
