SOCIAL NETWORK is the winning proposal of DM-KM278 2014, an international competition yearly organized by MAPPELAB magazine in collaboration with MAXXI, National Museum of the 21st Century Arts in Rome.

The aim of the design was the realization of a temporary installation of 5000m2 on the beach of Senigallia (Marche, IT), in-between the seaside and the historic shrine of the city.The attempt was to bring people to reflect on the beach both as limit of the contemporary urban environment and an area of contact between local identity and international creativity.

The proposal was a social and interactive architecture were rows of fishing nets reminding of the one the fishermans used to dry on the beach, organized the program and defined the functional areas, a huge set that absorbed the viewers’shadows and let them modify the environment and the perception of the beach.

The result was a poetic installation, an interplay of transparency and permeability moving with the wind and changing with the daylight. A reminder of the tradition and a clear reference to the nature and the history of the site, an invitation for people to move and discover the space as well as to stop and think about fleeting images and natural phenomenons.An installation to reflect on the simplest actions of the human being: look, listen, move, meet and think.
