was primary used for the 1st phase of Thorton bank project for
the preparation of the 6 gravity base foundations in 2007 and

Was also shelter harbour for involved marine vessels at that time :

Focus was on the construction site of gbf which required a significant upgrade to a heavy load quay and backyard

Redundant system (if one pontoon has breakdown, transports can
continue)
Emergency power supply for nursing the WTG components is available

2. High QA/QC program to be followed
3. Needed port space for WTG storage heavily influenced by installation
concept
4. Fabrication of different parts of WTG on different places logistic
scheme not to be underestimated and properly planned.
5. Logistic plan can be adjusted to project specific conditions :
in case of shortage of space :
1. Barge storage
2. Just in time delivery of parts

Type of foundation / turbine
Installation concept and equipment
Size of the windfarm , amount of windfarms to be served
2. Development dedicated port logistic center for OWF can lead to
substantial benefits to project construction efficiency.
3. Such development require public support/interest and should exceed
specific projectboundaries
4. OWF logistic centers in ports create large local added value with respect
to employment ( maritime repair-workshops, cranes, tugs,
helicopterservices,.)
