To quote Gill Tan, of the Chinese National Healthy Living Centre We have worked with Chinese Community groups/ Health & Social Care & Voluntary agencies colleagues, in bringing about positive social change , in adapting & using the non-stigmatised & correct translation of the term for dementia in Chinese - 退智症 - for all communication/ publication/ video/ youtube/ leaflets/ posters, etc. & to encourage/ advise everyone/ all agencies to stop using the stigmatising and wrongly translated Chinese terms for dementia - 癡呆症, or, 老年癡呆症, which mean someone who is stupid & mad!
