Special Presentation

Lynda.com: Michele Raine from the Wood County District Public Library (WCDPL) presented a demonstration of Lynda.com. The program is available free through the WCDPL (or other participating Ohio libraries) with an active library card. For assistance with an inactive WCDPL card call 419.352.5104. To obtain a library card, employees will need to visit the Library in person. Ms. Raine noted that individuals can obtain certificates if the completed course is longer than 10 minutes in length.

Announcements

Monthly Safety Topic: The annual tornado drill is scheduled for March 20 at 9:50 a.m. The safety subject for April is Transitional Duty.

Insurance Update: The federal upload of the 1094/1095C is complete.

Wellness Update: The second quarter wellness program starts in April with two new challenges and wellness events. One eligible event for the spring quarter is the Poker Walk at BGSU on April 3. A flyer was emailed to departments earlier this week. A blood drive is also scheduled for March 18 in the Atrium.

Training Update: Registration for the OPERS Bridging the Gap session is due today. The next Management 101 session is on April 3 for newly promoted managers or those who have not attended a previous session. Managers within Commissioners’ Departments are expected to attend this session if they have not already done so. The HR Group will meet on April 25 at Job and Family Services. New employees can register for the next Employee Orientation on June 18 by contacting Janese Diem. A Public Officials training for elected officials, department heads and board members is being scheduled for June 27. Additional details will be forthcoming.

Upcoming Events: Job and Family Services will host its pinwheel event on April 10 in the Atrium featuring raffles and lunch for purchase. The date of the Employee Picnic and Safety Fair was also announced for June 11.

Two Minute Drill

Kelly O’Boyle (Commissioners) noted that comments received back from the EPA on the Landfill Expansion Application are being reviewed.

Andrew Snyder (Dog Shelter) noted that door-to-door licenses checks are underway with a record number of dogs currently licensed.

John Musteric (Engineer) noted that bridge construction projects are scheduled to begin soon. He also noted roundabout construction at Buck and Lime City Roads and a study for possible roundabouts in Bowling Green at Brim and Bishop Roads.

Brad Gilbert (Emergency Management) thanked everyone for their support over the past 12 ½ years as he is set to retire on March 29. He also reminded attendees that next week is severe weather awareness week.

Joanne Hayward (Board of DD) noted upcoming events in recognition of March’s designation as Development Disabilities Month: technology fair at BGSU and the Run, Walk, and Roll at Levis Commons.

Amy Jones (Health Department) stated the dental clinic is set to start seeing clients in April.

Frank McLaughlin (Child Support) noted that staff is training for changes in child support computations that will occur later this month.

Dave Wigent (Job and Family Services) noted his optimism regarding the State budget noting that Governor DeWine and staff attended recent meetings with JFS directors.

Wade Gottschalk (Economic Development) reported that NSG will break ground in April for its new facility in Troy Township.

Rob Eaton (Sheriffs – Building Security) announced that county ID badges will be issued to Courthouse Complex staff in the coming weeks. An email notice was sent just prior to the meeting. These badges will replace the current fobs used by staff.

Jeff Orlowski (Wood Haven) reported that the Elite Senior Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month and the Delay the Disease Parkinson’s program is held every Thursday at 2 p.m..

Marissa Muniz (Museum) announced that new exhibit is now open featuring the Poor Farms from all Ohio counties. She also distributed flyers for the Paupers’ Cemetery Dedication on April 6.

Paula Hudak (Public Defenders) stated that the Perrysburg satellite office is relocating to the first floor of the Perrysburg Municipal Court. The office was previously on the second floor of the building.

Carol DeJong (Board of Elections) stated that two-thirds of the precincts will be open for the May 7th election.

Ben Hendricks (Information Technology) noted that new anti-virus software is being installed. If issues are identified with pcs, contact the help desk.

Chris Streidl (ADAMHS) noted that Tom Clemons’ last official day is today. Mr Streidl is serving as interim director until a permanent replacement is named.

Jen Robeson (Probate Court) stated that Juvenile Court is working on implementation of an e-filing system with Probate Court following at a later time.

Brenda Ransom (Records Center) noted that she will out of the office until March 25 due to her recent mishap at home. Her staff should be able to assist with any issues.

Pamela Boyer (Commissioners’ Office) announced that Risk Coordinator, Erica Noel, if off on maternity leave. Staff is currently assisting with her workload. She also noted a lot of hiring taking place.

Janese Diem (Commissioners’ Office) stated that Right Stuff provided an update to Precinct Manager. For those departments on the system, they should be able to review hours scheduled from the daily edit menu. This will help identify issues with the schedule. If you discover any hiccups, let her know.

The next Department Head meeting will be held in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room on April 19, 2019, at 9:30 a.m.
