January 2020
BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus
Department of Chemical Engineering at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad campus is
determined to develop new talents, leaders, researchers and entrepreneurs who can
bring high level value addition to the Chemical and Allied industries. Our mission is
to drive excellence in education and training for the creation of a common platform
for connecting academia and industry.
The Department offers programs in three tiers of Chemical Engineering i.e. Bachelors
(B.E), Masters (M.E) and Ph.D. Our B.E and M. E students are placed in reputed
companies such as Shell, Unilever, Honeywell, etc. We have 13 highly qualified
faculty members who are actively working in more than 20 diverse areas of research
such as Reaction Engineering, Catalysis, Environmental Pollution Control, Material
Science, Nanoscience, Polymers, Electrochemical Engineering, Biomaterials,
Petroleum Engineering, Modelling and Simulation and so on. Currently, 17 research
scholars and project fellows are working in our dept. The department has received
funding from various agencies such as DST, BIRAC (DBT), CSIR, ABSTC Mumbai,
DRDO and BITS Pilani. Our faculty members are also involved in teaching for
Industry Professionals under Work Integrated Learning Program (WILP). We regularly
conduct conferences, workshops and expert interactions for students.
About the Department
BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus
Chemical Engineers are the most versatile Engineers
amongst all disciplines. We are proud to be a rapidly growing
Department in this area with state of the art laboratory
infrastructure with excellent experimental and computational
facilities. The department currently has eleven young faculty
members from diverse research areas like Reaction
Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Material Science,
Nanotechnology, Batteries and Fuel Cells and Polymer
Science & Technology. We are currently offering B.E
Chemical Engineering, M.E Chemical Engineering. We are
running Minor degree program in Materials Science and
Engineering. The department boasts around 90% placement
record for last three outgoing batches and more than 8 %
have opted for higher studies. Our students are unique in
two aspects. They undergo 7.5 months of industrial training
in 2 phases and do project work supervised by BITS faculty.
