DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY & ENDODONTICS

DEPARTMENT PROFILE

Establishedin the year of 1986,the department has been conducting UG (BDS) programme(for intake of 100 students per year) and PG (MDS) programme (for intake of 3 students per year) since 2009, with both programmes following the curriculum as per DCI norms. Senior House-surgency certificate programme, has been started in the department since 2018.

The department aims at the diagnosis & treatment of dental caries, its sequele, teeth malformations and discolorations, thereby restoring the teeth to full function in an aesthetically pleasing manner.The department has a contemporary design with modern dental units, a radiographic room, latest instruments and dental materials.

Well organized and quality dental treatment procedures ensures a regular flow of patients for clinical training, skills development and research requirements during the clinical phase for both the undergraduate and post graduate students.

Fully electronic dental chairs for greater ease & comfort.

A fully equipped sterilisation unit.

Separate clinical areas for undergraduate& postgraduate students.

Presence of modern equipments like radiovisiography, apex locators, endomotors, thermoplasticised obturating systems, magnifying loupes, surgical microscope, endosonic equipments, bleaching devices, LASER equipment etc.

Fully equipped ceramic and casting lab.

A wide range of restorative materials to handle.

Senior House-surgencyProgramme- (Since 2018), One session of 3 students will be admitted every year in the first week of march for this speciality learning certificate programme, for a period of 100 days posting in clinics.

Memorandumof Understanding with department of physiotherapy, Sri Gokulam Hospital under which musculoskeletal disorders(MSD) can be averted by prophylactic training methodologies that are imparted to operator by skilful specialists(Physiotherapists).

knowledge of the various specialty treatments in clinical practice in Conservative Dentistry/Aesthetic Dentistry & Endodontics.

To teach problem-based solutions in specialty clinical practice. To improve confidence of the candidate in dealing with difficult cases. The outcome of this programme is to help the candidate attain knowledge on case

selection, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment planning & trouble shooting of different types of clinical cases in this specialty.
