2018 Frontiers in Service Conference

On September 6-9, 2018 The McCoy College of

Business at Texas State University hosted the 27th

Frontiers in Service Conference in Austin, Texas.

The Conference Co-Chairs were Raymond Fisk,

Linda Alkire, Sidney Anderson, and Steven

Rayburn.

The Frontiers conference was held at the Hilton Austin and featured 17 plenary

speakers and 143 concurrent presentations. It attracted attendees from 32

countries that presented their latest research on important service topics such

as service technology, base of the pyramid service, service design,

transformative service research, customer experience, service strategy, service

management, financial well-being, health care, social media, service

innovation, and service failure. The plenary conference speakers brought

unique perspectives to how service can improve lives.

The Co-Chairs would like to extend their gratitude to Texas State University, The

McCoy College of Business, and SERVSIG for their support. A special thank you

to Provost Gene Bourgeois and Dean Denise Smart for their warm welcome

speeches and continuous support. They also want to thank the ENACTUS team

and Mrs. Vicky West for their wonderful assistance.

This was the largest conference ever hosted by Texas State University! We are

truly overwhelmed by all the appreciation and kindness we have received.

Please visit our Frontiers Conference website for more detailed information --

Congratulations, BGS Nominees!

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is the honor society for students enrolled in AACSB-accredited

collegiate business and management programs. Membership in BGS is the highest recognition

a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a program at a school accredited

by AACSB International. Given the extremely competitive nature of McCoy students, the GPA

cutoff to be nominated is typically very high. Students should be very proud of their

accomplishment!

BGS membership conveys academic excellence and a commitment to high principles and

superior achievement. I hope that all nominees will reserve Tuesday, October 16 on their

calendar for the induction ceremony and awards event.

Everyone got the opportunity to play in some intense rounds of laser tag, while also

working on team building skills. Overall, this past month has been eventful, and we all

are looking forward to what the rest of the year holds.

The Center for Professional Sales recently hosted the annual Sales Ambassador Appreciation

Luncheon for the Sales Ambassador organization from Texas State University Friday, September

21st. The Sales Ambassador organization is a select group of sales students that are selected

TEKsystems) with representatives from the Austin area. Mr. John Chartier represented

TEKsystems from Austin, Texas. Representing Cintas were Matthew Patterson, Tito Romero, Evan

Floyd and Jerrod Wilson. Each corporate partner briefly

addressed the Sales Ambassadors regarding various
