INTRODUCTION

A great addition to the geological knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador has resulted from the upsurge of geological mapping and exploration in the last ten years. This bibliography is presented to make that information more readily available and to point out sources of information which may not be generally known.

The authors have included a complete list of titles as far as known to the Geological Survey of Newfoundland, published since 1936 for Newfoundland, and since the first reference, 1814, for Labrador. Some of these are available only in company files or those of the Geological Survey of Newfoundland, where answers to specific questions or copies of parts of specific reports are available on request to the Provincial Geologist, Mines Branch, St. John's, Newfoundland.

References in both Newfoundland and Labrador bibliographies are listed under authors' names, which are arranged alphabetically. Multiple references under an individual author's name are listed chronologically and numbered. Subjects are listed alphabetically and referred to author and number to find the title and place of publication. An explanation of abbreviations is incorporated in the list of bibliographic sources following the introduction.

Neither of the subject indices is complete because some of the titles are not available to the authors. They are useful however as fairly complete guides and are submitted in that spirit.
