1. The International yoga day was celebrated in physical education department:

a)In this connection a special Yoga Programme for Part V Physical Education

students demonstrated by Brahmakumaris ishwara vishwa vidyalaya center

Volunteers under the tile of “SELF WITHIN” which held at New building hall,

Thiagarajar college, Madurai-09 on 22-06-2017.

b) In this connection a special Yoga Programme for Part V Physical Education

students demonstrated by Brahmakumaris ishwara vishwa vidyalaya center

Volunteers under the tile of “POSITIVE THINKING” which held at New building

hall, Thiagarajar college, Madurai-09 on 23-06-2017.

2. The International yoga day was celebrated in physical education department. A

center Volunteers which held at Tholkapiar hall, Thiagarajar college, Madurai-09 on

20-06-2016 and 21-06-2016

1. The Department of Physical Education organized the Trekking for yoga programme

for college part V Physical Education students held at Samanar hills, Madurai on 6-

01-2018 at 6.00 a.m.

3. The Department of Physical Education organized the Trekking for yoga programme

for college part V Physical Education students held at Alagarkovil hills, Madurai on

21-01-2018 at 6.00 a.m.

4. Organized the Yoga lecdem training programme for Part V Physical Education

students at New building seminar hall, Thiagarajar college, Madurai on 29-01-2018

in collaboration with Brahmakumaris ishwara vishwa vidyalaya center, Madurai.

Mr. R. Selvakumar, Director of Physical Education appointed as a Team manager for

Madurai Kamaraj University Chess (Men) blues team to participate the South Zone Inter

University Chess tournament held at K.P.R Institute of Engineering, Coimbatore from

19-10-2017 to 22-10-2017

1. We also Organized 7days Coaching Camp for Badminton, Ball badminton, Basket ball,

Chess, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Best Physique, Shooting

Volleyball, Handball, Swimming for Men Students & Athletics.

Touranament Organised:

1. Madurai Kamaraj University ”A” Zone Inter-Collegiate Ball badminton Men tournament

was held at Thiagarajar college grounds, Madurai-09 on 28-07-2017

Our student competed in Athletics, Badminton, Ball badminton, Chess, Cricket, Kho

kho, Boxing, Football, Kabaddi, Hockey, Table tennis, Swimming, Best Physique, Handball,

volleyball, basketball, Athletics in the men’s category and our women’s team ventured in

Handball, badminton , kho kho, Boxing, Table Tennis, chess, Athletics in the MK University.

Our College Table tennis (Men) team won the MKU ‘A’ zone Inter- Collegiate

Runners-Up Trophy held at Yadava college, Madurai on 24-07-2017

Our College Ball badminton (Men) team won the MKU ‘A’ zone Inter- Collegiate

Runners-Up Trophy held at Thiagarajar College, Madurai 28-7-2017.

Our College Kho Kho (Men) team won the MKU ‘A’ zone Inter- Collegiate Runners-

Up Trophy held at The American college , Madurai on-21 from 07-09-2016 to 08-09-

2016.

Our College Badminton (Men) team won the MKU ‘A’ zone inter- Collegiate

Runners-Up Trophy held at MKU College, Madurai on 26-07-17.

Our College Handball (Men) team won the MKU ‘A’ zone inter- Collegiate Runners-

Up Trophy held at The American College, Madurai on 21&22-09-2017

1. S. Gunaseelan , II BA English participated in inter-collegiate annual athletic meet for

men in high jump and received silver medal (2017-2018).

International level:

The Department of Physical Education places on record its gratitude to our caring and

magnanimous management for sponsoring Rs. 25,000/- to Mr. R. Devendran 1st BSC., Computer

science for taking part in International competition held at Hongkong. This gesture shows

our management’s keen involvement in all the activities of the department and the care they take

towards the welfare of the students.
