“One Full Meal” under “Indiramma Amrutha Hastham”

Under ICDS, nutrition is being given to Pregnant and Lactating mothers and children from

6 months to 6 years

Nutrition for mothers is given as Tke Home Rtion(THR) on a fixed-day in a month which is

consumed by family members

THR for mothers consists of 21/2 kg rice,700 gms of pulses,375 gms of oil and 8 eggs

which is very inadequate

One of the critical interventions is to address the nutritional needs of Pregnant & Lactating

mothers

This will be achieved by the “One Full Meal” programme which can have the following

impact:

– Enhance the quality and acceptability of nutrition by the pregnant & lactating mothers

– Improve the enrollment of pregnant and lactating mothers at AWCs

– Ensure that pregnant mothers consume 90+ IFA Tablets

– Decrease prevalence of anaemia & under-nutrition among pregnant & lactating

mothers

– Ensure that pregnant and lactating mothers receive health checkup and immunization

– Reduce the incidence of low birth babies and malnutrition among children

– Reduce the incidence of Infant Mortality, Child Mortality and Maternal Mortality
