1. How to upload the final copy of your thesis to Research Bank

Candidates should refer to section 7 ‘Completion of the Higher Degree Research Examination Process’ in the Appointment of Examiners and Examinations Procedures then upload the final copy of your thesis to Research Bank by following the steps below. 1.1 Go to https://acuresearchbank.acu.edu.au 1.2 Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the ‘Log in to Research Bank’ button.

1.3 Click again on ‘Login to Research Bank’.

1.4 Login with your student credentials.

1.5 From this page click on ‘My research outputs’ and then, ‘Add output’

1.6 Scroll down and select ‘Thesis’

1.7 Add the details of your thesis to the repository. If you are in doubt as to any of the details, please leave

them blank. Library staff will review the record and contact you if necessary. 1.7.1 Title: Add the approved title of your thesis, including your sub-title. 1.7.2 Authors: Your name will already be prefilled. 1.7.3 Type: Select the type of thesis from the drop-down menu: Master of Philosophy, Masters Thesis, PhD Thesis

or Prof Doc Thesis. 1.7.4 Qualification name: Add the qualification name, such as Doctor of Education, in the free text field. 1.7.5 Abstract: Add the abstract as it appears in your thesis. Tip: cut and paste your abstract from your thesis. 1.7.6 Keywords: Add keywords about your thesis, which will help people to find your research online. You will need

to enter each keyword in a separate field. 1.7.7 Year: Add the year of your submission. This is the current year. 1.7.8 Publisher: Add the Publisher Australian Catholic University (this is needed for a Digital Object Identifier to be

created for your thesis) 1.7.9 Page Range: Add the Page Range e.g. 1-275. 1.7.10 Institution name: Add the institution name, Australian Catholic University. 1.7.11 Department name: Add the name of your school or institute. If you do not know your school/institute, please

add the name of your Faculty. 1.7.12 Final Version: Click on ‘choose file’ to add the final version of your thesis in PDF format.

1.7.13 License: Under Final Version, you can add a Creative Commons Licence by selecting a licence. This specifies how you want your research to be viewed or used. For more information on choosing the best licence for your thesis go to https://chooser-beta.creativecommons.org/ or refer to the table at the end of the document. The default option is “CC BY 4.0”.

1.7.14 File Access Level: The default option is “Open”. This will ensure your thesis is available to be downloaded and read. The other options are ‘Mediated’, which will allow someone to request your thesis; or ‘Controlled’ and ‘Safeguarded’, which will make your thesis not available.

1.7.15 Supplementary Files (Layperson Summary): Add your layperson summary by selecting ‘Choose File’. 1.7.16 License: There is no need to add a Creative Commons license. 1.7.17 File Access Level: Select ‘Controlled’ - this is restricted access.

1.8 Scroll up to the top and click Save.

1.9 Click Deposit Item

1.10 Confirm Acknowledgements 1.10.1 Tick each checkbox to confirm: uploaded copy is the final approved version of the thesis

statement of authorship and sources

consent for release for perusal on the internet

1.11 Click on ‘Begin deposit process'.

1.12 Confirm that the thesis is with the Repository Editors by sighting this:

Repository Editors will review your entry before publishing your thesis to Research Bank. A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) minted for the record. 1.13 If you have wish to request an embargo on your thesis, you can do so by clicking ‘Add note’, typing in

your comment and clicking on ‘Save note’. e.g. I wish to publish my thesis as a book, and I request an embargo of two years.

1.14 Repository editors in the library will review your entry before publishing your thesis. They may

contact you if required. 1.15 Repository editors will email you once your thesis has been published.
