DESCRIPTION OF LAB APPARATUS

1. EDM Die Sinking Machine (EDM-M50)EDM is basically used to make desired shape by electrical discharges. Material is removed from the work piece by series of recurring current discharges between two electrodes separated by a dielectric liquid and subjected to an electric voltage. One electrode is called tool electrode and other is called work piece electrode. It can work in three axis. Applications are: Die making, small hole drilling, metal disintegration machining etc.

2. Rotating and Bending Fatigue Testing Machine (PQ-6)It is also known as 4 point bending machine because load is applied on four points; two from upward and 2 from downward. It is used to determine the fatigue life of a specimen which depends upon load and current. Motor rpm is constant.(rpm)*(time) = fatigue life of materials

3. Universal Material Test System (810-MTS)A universal testing machine (UTM), also known as a universal tester, materials testing machine or materials test frame, is used to test the tensile strength and compressive strength of materials. It is named after the fact that it can perform many standard tensile and compression tests on materials, components, and structures. Stress, strain, force, cyclic load etc is applied through software. Hydraulic unit produces the pressure along with chiller to cool down the compressed liquid. Max pressure is 100 KN.

4. EDM Wire Cut MachineIt is used in cutting process where accuracy is required but process is slow. It works in two axis x and y. molybdenum wire is used to cut materials of diameter 0.13 mm. water is used as cooling medium because filter is not there otherwise oil, soluble solutions can be used. Preferable for hard and complex shapes. Programmable unit is alongside to program each step and movement of process. 5. Vertical Universal friction and Wear Testing MachineIt is a Multi-Specimen Friction and Wear Testing Machine. It is designed for simulating, evaluating and testing almost all kinds of oil (high-class serial hydraulic oil, lubricant, combustion oil and gear oil) and materials (metal, plastic, coating, rubber, ceramic etc.). It is widely used in tribology field, petrol chemical industry, mechanical, energy resource, metallurgy, space flight, engineering areas etc.

6. Optical Hardness Tester (HBRVU-187.5)HBRVU-187.5 Brinell, Rockwell &Vickers Optical Hardness Tester carries a series of rotating testing force and Optical measurement indication system. It fits different types of testing force and indenter, which are usually used to measure the Brinell Rockwell &Vickers hardness of metal materials or specimen. This device is widely used in the testing of black metal, non-ferrous metal, carbide alloy, acieration tier, chemical treatment tier and normally used in factory workshops, labs, universities and institution for scientific research. 7. Buffering MachinePolishingandbufferingarefinishingprocesses for smoothing a work pieces surface using an abrasive and a work wheel. It is used for the finishing of the surfaces of meals and specimen. It consist of a rotating shaft attached with the motor. Buffering material disc type is attached at end of rotating shaft. 8. Furnace with overhanging CraneA furnace is a device used for high temperature heating. The name derives from Greek word fornix, which means oven. Materials are heated up to 1500-2000 oC. Overhead crane is used to lift the heated specimen out of the furnace. 9. Impact Testing Machine (JBW-300)It is mainly used to determine the anti-impact capability of ferrous metal materials with high toughness, especially for steel and iron and their alloy, under dynamic load. This tester is operated fully automatic; all test operation like pendulum rising, sample feeding, positioning, impact, pendulum rising again etc. are automatically. Be applicable for continuing testing in different kinds of laboratories and other metallurgy industrial manufactories for large batch impact test work. 10. Hydraulic PressA hydraulic press is a machine that has a bed or a plate in which the metallic material is placed so that it can be crushed, straightened or molded. Hydraulic press is a machine that makes use of the pressure exerted on the fluids to crush something. Joseph Bramah invented the hydraulic press, hence it is also known as the Bramah Press.

11. Abrasion Machine (Project)Abrasion is the process of scuffing, scratching, wearing down, marring, or rubbing away. It can be intentionally imposed in a controlled process using an abrasive. Abrasion can be an undesirable effect of exposure to normal use or exposure to the elements. This machine has been developed for determining the resistance to abrasion/wear of natural stones and concrete products.

12. Mechanical Vibration Apparatus (TM-150, gunt HAMBURG)The trainer covers a wide range of topics in mechanical vibration technology. It is mounted on a sturdy, low-vibration frame which is installed on a laboratory trolley with braked wheels. Quick fastening elements for the formed grooves for quick and accurate experimental set-up. Forced vibration is generated with an electrical motor-driven imbalance exciter.

13. Creep Measurement Apparatus (SM-106)Deformation under constant stress at elevated temperature is called creep. The SM106 Creep Measurement Apparatus is a simple unit designed for demonstrating and investigating the creep characteristics of different specimens at room temperature. A creep test is carried out by applying a constant load to a specimen and observing the increase in strain (or extension) with time. 14. PolariscopePolariscope is used for the stress analysis in specimens. Stress distribution is analyzed through this and cracks or deflection is determined.

15. Metallurgical Microscope (BX-RLA2)The BX51 is the standard upright metallurgical microscope model that provides reflected and transmitted light illumination. It is equipped with diversity motorized modules including automatic focus and a motorized illumination and nosepiece. The operations can be fully software-controlled through PC or other devices.

16. Cooling IncubatorAn incubator or cooled incubator is the persuasive solution for stable incubation processes. The inner chamber of cooled incubators made of high-quality stainless steel are quick and easy to clean.1 | Page
