Earth´s layersThe outermostlayer of the Earth
is the crustcrust
The next layer is themantlemantle
The last layer is the CoreCore, which is, which is
separated into theseparated into theliquid outer coreliquid outer core
and theand the solid inner solid innercorecore

CRUST:CRUST:This is the thin, rocky
layer we think ofas the Earth´s surface
The crust comprises thecontinents and ocean
basins.
The crust has a variablethickness, being
35-70 Km in the continentsand 5-10 Km thick in
the ocean basins
MANTLE:MANTLE:This layer has semi-molten
rocks (partly melted). It actually flows
around the outer core,moving slowly
The mantle is about2900 Km thick andis separated into
the upper and lowermantle
THE OUTER CORE:THE OUTER CORE:The outer core is 2300 Kmthick. Here, the metals aremelted into a very hot liquid
THE INNER CORE:THE INNER CORE:The center of the Earth is
a solid ball about 6000 milesbelow the surface

Physical and chemical layersPhysical and chemical layers
Recent theoriessay the
AsthenosphereAsthenospheredoesn´t really
exist
This hot liquid formsa layer that moves
around the inner core
The inner core is a solid ball made ofmostly two metals:two metals:
Iron and nickel
The lithosphereis divided into smallerpieces called tectonic
plates
Aluminum, Silicon and Oxygen
are common elementshere
