Hello from Durango: February already and we have not had any snow yet to speak of as I write this.  Hopefully some is wending its way to us soon.  We have a good beginner class just started with several different ages represented and they all seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.     Our first special dance of 2018 will be our Valentine's Dance on February 9th.  Come join in the fun - wear your pink or red duds and bring a pink or red treat to share if you'd like.  Beginner class is from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm and the regular dance is from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  You can be sure our great caller, Richard Berry, will find us some upbeat romantic music to dance to!     Remember to mark your calendar for the future date of the FOUR CORNERS FLING in Cortez on March 16th to March 18th, with caller Joey Solis from Albuquerque.  This is a great weekend dance which includes a Friday evening dance with local callers, an afternoon & evening dance on Saturday with Joey Solis and a trail out dance on Sunday morning, not to mention with a chance to earn your reservation badge by dancing at the Four Corners Monument on Saturday morning.  Sounds like a fun time! Quote for Valentine's Day:

from a much-deserved vacation with their daughter in

Spain. Lisa hit the ground running in January and

continued the momentum she has built with our

mainstream students. And, Lisa shared with our club that

The ASDC membership is from Feb.1st. to January 31st.

ASDC card stays the same color but the RED number on the seal changes for the year it is issued. This years number will be 18.

This membership helps the club which maintains the Square Dance Center.

$20.00 per person after Jan. 1st.- Jul. 31st. If not a member of the ASDC you pay a $1 guest fee for every dance you attend at the ASDC.

NMSRDA (New Mexico Square & Round Dance Association) State membership is from State Festival to State Festival, typically this is from June until May.

The NMSRDA card changes color every year.

Cost for annual membership is $6.00 per dancer over 18 and 1/2 price for dancers 18 and younger.

We are in the Central District within the NMSRDA. Central District usually holds 3 to 5 dances a year, which are free to NMSRDA members and if you plan on attending the state festival you get a discount to the New Mexico Square and Round Dance Festival.

Hello Dancers,

Crazy Eights would like to pay Tribute to Gene and Carol Champion.

It is a huge loss to have lost both Carol and Gene in the last two

months. They were such an asset to Square Dancing in Albuquerque. 

Always there to help where ever needed.  In recent years working the

desk for Duke City. Gene was always available to help with the beginners

class. The heavens are a happier place with them.

 Crazy Eights Callers were both under the weather in January.  Delbert

worked through his ailment.  Bill’s daughter has taken him to her home

in Las Cruces to help get him well.   He will be back a healthier man.

  Rio Ramblers surprised us in January coming to steal our banner and to

advertise their Valentine Dance coming up on February 17, 2018.  Crazy

Eights has chosen Marge and Jim Page as our Sweetheart and Escort.

 Rio Ramblers Club has grown that is great!  Too bad our Clubs dance

the same night or we would see more of each other.

  Remember to help Abigail Pratt on her educational trip to Sydney,

Australia. Attend the Fundraiser Dance on February 24, 2018 ASDC 2:00

 Well Happy Valentine’s Day all of you Rockin’ dancers, here’s hoping you survived January and are ready for the rest of this New Year.  Our club is still having great dances and the students are very determined to be mainstream dancers.  Our plus students are trying hard, as well, to “get it”.   We had a full square for plus last night which was fun.  The Club is looking forward to seeing you all at the State Festival here in T or C in May, the 18th – 20th.  It is a great facility, with the added bonus of a wood floor, so wear your dancing shoes and come prepared to have a fun weekend.
