PowerPoint Directions• Content over fluff – your grade depends more on the

content that you add to this PowerPoint than the ability to add background colors, illustrations, transitions, sounds, etc.

• Make sure the text of the PowerPoint has nothing behind it in the background. White Backgrounds please!!

• Borders and supporting pictures are fine when limited to a confined space.

• Make sure your written descriptions for each slide are overflowing with information.

Slide One - Portrait• Portrait - complete a colorful portrait of your

candidate on an 8 1/2 by 11 paper. Make sure your candidate fits the characteristics of your style of government. Nose rings, tattoos, and mowhawks are cool, but not for a leader. Take a digital picture of the candidate and attach it to the power point.

Slide Two - Biography

• Using the information your group created for the rough draft, create a well written biography about your leader. This is not a list of facts, but an organized written description of your leader’s life.

• Read parts of the following biography on Russell Wilson as an example.

Slide Three – Experience/Characteristics

• Describe all of the prior job/career experience your leader has gained and how each of these jobs helped develop the characteristics needed to be a perfect fit for the leader of your government.

• Be sure to connect each job experience back to the goal/purpose of the leader on your island.

Slide Four – Scenario #1• Solving Scenario Procedures:

– Think about the ultimate goal of your government.– Think about the goal of your leadership.– Think about the level of power you have granted your leader.– With the previous 3 items in mind, create a highly detailed plan for how your leader will handle the

scenario #1.– Within your overall solution, you must have back up plans. If plan A doesn’t work, what is plan B? If

plan B doesn’t work, what is plan C? Always assume there will be situations your leader cannot solve in one step.• For Example: Dictator Frank decides that the best solution to deal with a group of Otter Statue Vandals is to

banish them to another island. So Dictator Frank sends 50 Otter Statue Vandals to another island. This didn’t stop the vandalism. So, Frank ships another 50 Otter Statue Vandals off the island. This happens 8 times, and 400 people have been shipped off the island, and the Otter Statues are still being vandalized.

• Is Dictator Frank going to continue to ship 50 people off the island every time there is vandalism? What if he ships every one off the island. The problem is solved, but there is no one left.

• After Plan A fails, what would be an appropriate plan B for Dictator Frank? Plan C?

•Scenario #1: You have a large portion of your population that disagrees with how the government is handling the collection of taxes. They have decided to stage a sit-in protest in front of the tax collection building. Based on your style of government, how will your leader handling the situation.

• Scenario #2: Your island has been hit by a large natural disaster. A large portion of your population has been killed and the remaining survivors have lost their homes and utilities. How will your leader handle this scenario? Use characteristics of your leadership to help solve this scenario.
