WHY RSV4?

RSV4 project was born to bring motorsports technology directly to the road and reconfirm the passion and engineering capabilities of Aprilia even in the large engine capacity category.

A bike developed for the track that embodies everything a rider desires to dominate the circuit, but which can be just as much fun to ride on the road. A concentrated engineering package developed around a 65° V4 engine, the layout identified as the best technical choice for a powerful, light, ultra-compact and extremely agile machine. A bike that marked Aprilia’s return to the WSBK championship 10 years after appearing on the scene, capable of winning 7 World Superbike championships and the 2015 FIM Superstock World Cup in the last seven years.

TONS OF POWERWith 201 HP maximum power at 13,000 rpm and an astonishing maximum torque of 115 Nm, this bike eats up the track. Great performances on track, breath-taking exits from turns even at mid range revs. That’s exactly what you were looking for.

ADJUSTABLE ALUMINIUM FRAME AND

RACINGDERIVED SWINGARM An Aprilia hallmark, the RV4’s fully adjustable aluminium frame is a work of art on display that hides the secrets of a benchmark chassis. Pressed and cast sheet elements lend the frame optimised torsional andflexional rigidity for perfect feeling and control and to allow the rider to handle the engine’s incredible power: the reference point in terms of handling, stability at high speeds and pure grit.

The aluminium frame and swingarm reduce weight while providing the necessary stiffness to transfer all the power of the 65° V4 engine to the ground. The frame weighs as little as 10.5 kg, the swingarm only 5.1 kg. The resulting contained moving masses enhance the bike’s responsiveness and sensitivity to adjustments to the suspension settings.

Like on the most powerful supersport bikes, the fork allows precision adjustment for hydraulic compression, rebound damping and spring preload.For optimal feedback from the road at all times.

RSV4 RR/RFNEW MULTIMAP CORNERING ABS RSV4 MY17 features a completely revamped ABS system, based on the NEW BOSCH 9.1 MP control unit, characterised by small size and extreme light weight.

It’s a modern two-channel antilock system, that provides the following advantages:- improved stability- improved deceleration without locking the wheels- reduced braking distance in critical situationsThe greatest innovation, compared to the previous MY16 bike, is the introduction of the CORNERING functionality.The system is now able to recognise when the rider is braking hard while leaning into a bend, preventing the wheels from locking also in this critical situation. This allows the rider to keep total control of the bike in any “panic stop” condition.

RSV4 RR/RF2 - NEW MULTIMAP CORNERING ABS The system has been skilfully developed and calibrated based on indications from Apriliaengineers in order to provide not only maximum safety on the road, but also the best performance on the track.

The rider can still select between 3 ABS maps to better suit the system responsiveness to the current riding conditions (1 = track, 2 = road, 3 = wet), always with the goal of maximising braking effectiveness. Now ABS MAP2 has become also suitable for amateur track riding.

The ABS system can also be disabled by the rider, still keeping all the rest of the electronic controls of the bike active. NEW for MY17 is also the ABS deactivation strategy. If disabled by the rider, the system will automatically be reactivated after every key OFF/ON. A better attention to safety.Permanent deactivation of the ABS system will still be possible for RACE USE ONLY (need to install the RACE engine ECU/MAP)

REFINED AWC FUNCTIONALITY

HELPS THE RIDER CONTROL WHEELIES BY LOWERING THEFRONT WHEEL GENTLY TO THE GROUND

Thanks to the new positioning on the bike of the BOSCH inertial platform, the system is now able to accurately detect pitch angle and rate.This allowed Aprilia’s electronic engineers to completely redefine the wheelie control strategy. Compared to the old system, where the target of the strategy was always to gently lower the front wheel to the ground, the new MY17 AWC is also able to keep the bike to hold a certain pitch angle, according to the riding condition. This always ensures the maximum power delivery to the ground, a giant leap in terms of overall performance improvement.

- The revamped AWC hardware easily identifies the START and END of a wheelie

- During a wheelie, AWC prevents the motorcycle from exceeding a predetermined pitch rate/angle

- New AWC strategy now gently lowers the front wheel to the ground or holds a specific pitch angle, according to the current riding conditions

NEW CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTIONALITYAprilia’s MY17 V4 new electronic package features a full electronic cruise control for maximum comfort on long highway rides. A system able to maintain the speed selected by the driver.

The system can be activated or deactivated by the rider with a long press on the central selector. The system can be used at certain speeds in third to sixth gears. Once at the desired speed, the system can be engaged or disengaged (transition to state SET) by means of a short central pressure of the selector. The selected cruising speed can be increased or decreased with a short press the selector up or down (increase / decrease speed 1.2 mph (2kmh) or through long press up or down for a progressive change in speed.

The rider can twist grip to accelerate temporarily. Upon release of the throttle grip the motorcycle will return to the selected cruising speed.

It is possible to wake the system through an long press up of selector if the rider wants to resume the last set speed, otherwise a short press can set a new cruising speed.

The exclusive calibration procedure detects wheel rolling diameter and automatically calibrates the system.
