DESIGNING DPS

When I opened InDesign, I pasted my ‘Locked’ masthead from Photoshop and placed it in the top left hand corner of the page. There are three columns that I created and tried to place the masthead within the lines.

After that, I clicked ‘file’ then ‘place’ and clicked the image to import which was ‘cosmic tiger’ from Photoshop.

Then added a stroke by going to ‘stroke’ and changing the colour and thickness.

I then clicked on the tool bar on the side, clicked the ‘T’ to create a text box. I then pasted my article into the textbox.

After pasting my article, I imported my photo (not the actual one) and put it in the middle of my DPS. I clicked the text wrap for the text to go around the image.

To add to the DPS, I included a sub-heading below. Mine is going to be the grab quote as well as the sub-heading. I will make it into another colour for it to stand out.

This is now what the DPS looks like with a image behind it. I need to make sure the text goes around the figure of the image, but this isn’t the actual image I’m going to use.

The actual image has now been placed behind the text and I started to arrange the text so that it fits around the outline of the models. This the process that I went through. In Photoshop, to get the right hand side of the photo blue, I clicked on the Polygon Lasso tool and set it to 20 pixels feathering, then Edit, Fill, Content Aware and OK. It then made the whole of the right side the same background. To change the left hand side, I selected the whole area and clicked Free Transform and I dragged it along to create a blue background. All that was left was the top of the photo, I again chose the Polygon Lasso tool and repeated the same process as the left hand side. This then create the image on the right.
