ABSTRAK

Sebuah Penelitian Pengembangan. Tesis. Magister Pengkajian Bahasa. Pascasarjana.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat materi ajar Bahasa Inggris yang

sesuai dengan tujuan tertentu. Dalam hal ini materi ini diperuntukkan bagi

mahasiswa semester 1 jurusan Teknologi Laboratorium Medik dengan menggunakan

pendekatan pembelajaran menggunakan Task. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah

untuk meneliti kualitas buku ajar yang sebelumnya yang bernama Handout of

English 1, untuk membuat perencanaan materi Bahasa Inggris yang sesuai dengan

tujuan tertentu , dan menguji kualitas perencanaan materi Bahasa Inggris yang

sesuai dengan tujuan tertenttu bagi mahasiswa jurusan Teknologi Laboratorium

Medik. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis Riset dan Pengembangan. Obyek penelitiannya

adalah buku Handout of English1 yang digunakan sebagai buku ajar untuk

mahasiswa semester 1 jurusan Teknologi Laboratorium Medik. Dalam pengumpulan

data, penulis meempuh cara observasi, kuesioner, wawancara, dan kajian

dokumentasi. Mempresentasikan, meklasifikasikan, mendeskripsikan data, membuat

kesimpulan, dan menampilkan implikasi merupakan metode dalam menganalisis data

yang diperoleh. Adapun tiga tahapan yang dipakai dalam melaksanakan penelitian

ini adalah explorasi, pembuatan, dan evaluasi. Temuan yang diperoleh dari

penelitian ini adalah bahwa mahasiswa memang membutuhkan buku ajar Bahasa

Inggris untuk tujuan khusus yang dapat memnuhi semua kebutuhan baik dari segi

akademis maupun karir mereka sebagai teknisi laborat. Materi Bahasa Inggris

tujuan khusus ini dilengkapi dengan silabus dan rencana pembelajaran yang disusun

menurut teori Willis yang kerangka kerjanya menggunakan 3 cycle yaitu pre-cycle,

task, dan pelaporan.

S.Pd., M.Hum. 2018.

This research is mainly intended to develop materials of English Specific Purposes

for the first semester of Medical Laboratory Technology students based on Task

Based Language Learning (TBLL). The objectives of the study are to investigate the

quality of textbook entitled “Handout of English1”, to explain how to design the

prototype of English for Specific Purposes materials, and to explain the prototype

quality of English for Specific Purposes materials for students of Medical Laboratory

Technology Department. This research is a Research and Development. The object of

this study is“Handout of English 1” used in English Foreign Learning for the

students of the first semester who study in Medical Laboratory Technology. In

collecting the data, the writer uses observation, questionnaire, interview, and

documentation. Presenting, classifying, describing the data, making conclusion and

drawing implication are the methods in analyzing the data. There are three stages

applied to develop the materials including exploration, development, and evaluation.

The findings show that the students of Medical Laboratory Technology need English

Specific Purposes materials to elaborate their academics and careers as laboratory

technicians. English Specific Purposes materials here are designed completely with

the syllabus and lesson plans based on the framework of Willis with her cycles

phases; they are pre-task, task, and report.
