A movement happens when:
People talk to one another.
Ideas spread within the community.
Peer support leads people to do what they always knew was the right thing.
What Does It Take To Create a Movement?
Anatomy of a Movement
Senator Bill Bradley
A connection between and
among the leader and the tribe.
A narrative that tells a story about
who we are and the future we’re
trying to build.
(A Whole New M

Something to
do – the fewer
limits, the
better.
Great leaders create movements by
empowering the tribe to communicate.
Seth Godin, Tribes
Leaders can help increase the effectiveness of the tribe by:
Transforming the shared interest into a passionate goal and desire for change. (motivation)
Providing tools to allow members to tighten their communication.
Leveraging the tribe to allow it to grow and gain new members.
Focusing on the first two tactics almost always leads to more impact.
Smart leaders are grabbing those tools and putting them to work.
New tools and technologies available to groups are
transforming what it means to think of tribal communication.

Autonomy, Purpose, Mastery
Autonomous people working toward mastery perform at very high levels. But those who do so in the service of some greater objective can
achieve even more. - Daniel Pink, Drive
