    Campaign is on....Kerala has been the recipient of themost literate state in India tag for al-most two decades now. A very innova-tive initiative by Technopark TBI/ TUC

    to spread the message of innovation,

    incubation and entrepreneurship to thestudent community of Kerala is a road-show campaign branded as I am anEntrepreneur. TechnoFIRST, ournetwork partner is actively partneringin this initiative of Technopark TUC.The proposed road show serves tospread the message of Innovation andEntrepreneurship across the state ofKerala.

    The I am an Entrepreneur cam-paign will be flagged off, as of now,

    from Technopark in the 3rd week of Au-gust, 2009. There will be three brandedvehicles for the campaign which willstart simultaneously from three locations

    across Kerala andtraverse across thelength and breadth ofthe state.

    The publicity forthe project will be car-ried out in leading dai-lies and other forms ofmedia, both electronicand print and aims tocreate awareness

    among the entrepreneurs and generate

    global attention to the movement. Tech-nopark TBI aims to receive innovativetechnology ideas from students acrossEngineering Colleges, TechnicalSchools and from Rural Innovators.During the campaign T-shirts bearing thepunch line I am an Entrepreneur, cam-paign brochures/fliers, Survey sheets,Brochures will be distributed. Entrepre-neurship Awareness Camps will be or-ganised at strategic locations and ruralareas as part of the roadshow.

    Project Review Committee Meet-ing for the project Cardiac Analyserunder TePP (Technopreneur PromotionProgramme) Phase I was conducted byTechnopark-TUC at Park Centre onJuly 16, 2009. The Innovators Mr.Babeesh.C.T and Mr. Jerryraj S.R. pre-sented their project along with the pro-totype demonstration. Cardiac Analy-ser is a medical instrument extremelyuseful for coronary patients, whichcontinously monitor the functioning ofhuman heart and throw warning signals

    before causing a heart arrest. Theproject was funded under the TePPScheme of DSIR for a project cost of

    The productlaunch for Certes Innovative Solutionss newproduct fully automatic Pump-on-off system was conducted attheir Aluva office on June 26. Certes is currently working as Vir-tual Incubatee of T-TBI from Matha College of Technology

    The first product was delivered to Sri. S. Sanal Kumar, Man-ager, Matha College of Technology by Sri. Vishnu V. Nath (CERTESs Technicalofficer and product developer). Managing Director Mr. Abhilash Johnny, CEO Mr.Bobin Paul, CFO Mr. Arun. S. Praveen and Mr. Nithin Gopal, CMO were alsopresent at the function.

    The product will be available in the market at a rateof Rs 1,800 and it facilitates several advanced featuressuch as low and high voltage protection, LED indications,six months warranty, lower tank option, Micro controllercontrolled functioning and reliable self-adjustment to var-ious circumstances says company sources.

    National Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (NCIIE), thetraining arm of Technopark TBI is all set to launch a handful of courses for theentrepreneurs through the E-learning platform established in association with SmartGuruji. The courses will be officially launched by the middle of August 2009. Theproposed courses will be as following

    An online course on Entrepreneurship having duration of 6 months targetingStudents, Faculties, Prospective Entrepreneurs and the Rural Crowd certified by aNational Agency in Entrepreneurship

    A Management course for the entrepreneurs and incubatees in association with

    NIPM, Trivandrum ChapterAnother new initiative by Technopark-TBI is the Skill Enhancement Program

    (SEP), a power packed preparation kit for prospective entrepreneurs spread acrossthe country. Supported by the Smartguruji in building its technology architecture,S.E.P has state of the art facilities, being the best in its class. S.E.P is intended tobridge the gap between academic skills and the skills required to pioneer in the realworld scenario of entrepreneurship.     The 95th meeting of the TePP Screening Committee (TSC) held on July 3, 2009

    recommended the following projects from T-TUC for funding.

    1. Ocean wave generation by the innovator Mr. P.U. Rajan is recom-

    mended in principle for TePP Phase I funding support

    2. Mobile crime and accident reporting platform (MCARP) by the

    innovator Mr. Sanjay Vijayakumar is recommended for TePP Phase

    II support of 42 lakhs

    3. Vehicle driver monitoring system by the innovator Mr. K. P. Prem-

    achandran is recommended for Micro TePP support of Rs.25,000.

    4. Inspye optical probe by the innovator Mr. Kesava Prasad is recom-

    mended for Micro TePP support of Rs.75,000.

    National Level Engineer-ing Students Project Com-petition is on. TechTop2009 is an annual compe-tition organized as part of our effortsto locate budding Technopreneurswith innovative ideas at a very earlystage, reward them suitably, and nur-ture their initiative to achieve com-mercial results. All projects selected

    after final screening shall be eligiblefor incubation support from Techno-park TBI. This year engineering stu-

    dents and teachers from 17states are participating and46 teams were shortlistedfor demonstrating their in-novative projects at Tech-

    nopark from 17 to 18 August, 2009.The selected projects with innovativecontent will also be forwarded to DSIRfor TePP funding.

    The Theme of TechTop 2009 isGreen Engineering. TechTop 2009 isorganized in Technopark by DegreeControls Inc. and is supported by IEEE,Kerala Section and Executive Knowl-edge Lines monthly.

    The 37th Expert Committee Meeting for the evaluation and selection ofstart up ventures and the renewal of incubation membership for the existingcompanies to T-TBI was conducted on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Thecommittee evaluated the business proposals and recommended to giveadmission to Dimension Mobiles Pvt Ltd to a 4 seater in T-TBI and Optio

    Logic Technologies Ltd to an 8 seater in T-BIC. The committee alsorecommended the renewal of license for Sooryakiran Bioinformatics Pvt Ltdand Divx Medical Equipments and Software Technologies Pvt Ltd.

    whom the new infrastructure facility

    Kollam Technopark will be a

    subsidiary project of TrivandrumTechnopark and the master plan for

    the park has already been approved by the Project

    Implementation Board (PIB), said Dr. Ajay Ku-

    Directors-Technopark. It will be situated on a

    sprawling 40 acre plot and will have a building

    measuring 500,000 sft.From the park building, the view of the Ashta-

    mudy lake and its coconut palm-filled surround-ings provides a breathtaking view of Keralas nat-

    ural charm at it best. To begin with, a building of100,000 sft. will be built and commissioned by

    August 2010.

    By then we hope to get SEZ status sanctioned

    for the new park, adds Mervin Alexander, CEO-

    Technopark. Already tenders have been floated for

    the construction of the 110 KV substation, internal

    roads and sewage system. A potable water supply

    system form part of the master plan.Besides the built-up space, Kollam Technopark

    will also provide plots to IT investors to erect theirown infrastructure, pointed out Dr. Ajay Kumar.

    Once those enterprises also come up, Kollam Tech-nopark will have facilities to employ about 8000

    oping 92 acres of land in between the existing

    campus and the Second phase of 86 acres. Al-

    ready work on the first building measuring one

    million sft. is ready for contracting. The Phase

    III is being developed as a Special Economic

    Zone. Work on the 110KV substation has already

    commenced. Technopark will provide a ll the util-

    ities and support services. PriceWaterHouse Coo-

    pers (P) Ltd (PWC) has been entrusted with the

    assignment for the development of Technopark

    Phase III. The bid document for selecting poten-tial partners to develop the IT/ITES SEZ(40 acres)

    in Technopark Phase III is under process and will

    be issued to partners based on the short-list pre-

    pared from RFQ.

    Indian Institute of InformationTechnology & Management- Kerala(IIITM-K) and Institute of Manage-ment in Government (IMG) are jointlyoffering one-year full-time Post Grad-uate Program in e-Governance. Theprogramme is proposed by Govern-ment of Kerala, based on the recom-mendations of the Administrative Re-forms Commission, to produce trainedprofessionals to implement and man-age e-Governance projects in a disci-plined manner.     The classroom sessions have beendivided into Core courses and Electivecourses and they are grouped under threemajor categories viz. E-Governance,Management and Information Technol-ogy. As part of the course, the candidatesare required to undertake a project workin the final semester. The programmealso includes lab sessions in IT and softskills development. Up on successfulcompletion of the course the participantsmay find career opportunities in Gov-ernments IT and e-Governance projects,

    Software Industry, Consulting Compa-nies, National and State ICT organisa-tions.

    The eligibility requirement for ad-mission to the program is bachelorsdegree in any discipline with computerproficiency.     Education at a func-tion at the Womens college, Vazhuthacadu, Trivandrum on July 27, 2009.IIITM-K developed the software for Directorate of Technical education (DTE)for on-line submission of application forms for merit-cum-means scheme schol-arship for students of Kerala. The scholarship is for poor and meritorious stu-dents belonging to minority communities so as to enable them to pursue pro-fessional and technical courses, anywhere in India. The Ministry of Minorityaffairs, Government of India will distribute every year 20,000 scholarships

    Mattannur: Initiating the fulfill-

    ment of a long-standing dream of thepeople of Northern Malabar to have

    an airport in Kannur, Keralas HonbleMinister for Home & Tourism, Sri

    Kodiyeri Balakrishnan presented thecompensation for land acquired for the

    Kannur Airport, at a glittering func-tion here on June 1, 2009.

    This day marks the opening up of

    districts like Kannur and Kazargodeto the larger world outside, Kodiyeri

    Balakrishnan said while addressingthe function, adding that KINFRA has

    been appointed as Nodal Agency for

    the project for which steps are under-way to float a company for mobilis-

    ing investments for developing theairport, near Mattannur, as a green-

    field project with private participation.Work on the airport will begin thisyear.

    organised by the Director-ate of Industries and Com-

    merce, Kerala, in associa-

    tion with the district unit of Kerala State Small Industries Association (KS-

    SIA) and the Federation of Cluster Consortiums, Sri Kareem said that Cochin

    has grown in to one of Indias choicest destinations for industrial invest-

    ment. The State government is affording top priority to ensure that inves-

    tors in large numbers come to Kerala and set up shop in the congenial envi-

    ronment provided by Cochin. Agencies like KINFRA with expertise andexcellence in creating infrastructure have a major role to play in bringingCochin back to its glorious days.

    The seminar presided over by Sri P. Rajeev MP was addressed by Sri T.

    Balakrishnan IAS, Principal Secretary-Industries, Sri T.O. Sooraj IAS, Di-rector-Industries & Commerce, and Dr. M. Beena IAS, District Collector-

    Ernakulam. A presentation on the industrial infrastructure facilities avail-able in Ernakulam District was made by Sri V.R. Balu, Dy. Manager-Busi-

    ness Development, KINFRA at the seminar.

    The private participation in the air-

    port project sanctioned by the Union

    government would be in accordance

    with Central norms, he said. An Infor-

    mation Technology city and export and

    import facilities were also being

    planned as part of developing the air-

    port. The proposed airport conceived

    as a project with private participation

    was being planned as a state-of-the-

    art facility, the Minister said.

    Stating that the proposed airport

    here would be the fourth international

    airport in the State, the Minister said

    the government was also going ahead

    with the plan to develop infrastructurefacilities required for the airport.While the road from here to the air-

    port site would be developed into a six-lane road, the roads to Mattannur from

    Thalassery and other parts, including

    Vadakara would be elevated to four-

    lane highways. The State

    budget had already allo-cated Rs.25 crore for in-

    frastructure development

    in addition to the budget-

    ary allocation of Rs.52

    crore under tourism de-

    velopment, he said.
