That’s right—our own Miss Kitty has been adopted! She has had the run of the shelter for a long time and been quite content. Her pres-ence was so much a part of daily shelter life that she is greatly missed—but we’re happy that she’s found her Forever Home!
Elmer (now Tico) was in poor condition when brought to the shelter. He was underweight, had a lot of bad teeth and wouldn’t eat much. But a fine gentleman recognized his potential and adopted him. Recently he brought Tico to the shelter for a visit and he was barely recognizable as the same dog! He has gained weight and sports a glowing, healthy coat. He is energetic and outgoing. It was a joyful and memorable visit for everyone.

The hoped-for sunshine was very apparent on Saturday at the auction! Four loyal committee members manned the concession trailer from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm:
Jeanne Cloud Becky Aguirre Fran Clay Ginny Hawk
Jeanne and Becky ended the day alone, and had to cope with all the necessary tasks of closing—the sorting, shifting, taking down, fold-ing, hauling, etc., by themselves—a two-hour additional shift. Man-agement has placed a note of commendation in their personnel files, and both have been recommended for a raise in pay. Thanks always to Larry Macha who hauls the trailer from one place to another—couldn’t do it without him! (he uses his truck, though) And thanks to our Sweet Bakers—their contributions were much ap-
preciated by everyone!

Pet of the Week
June 3, 2011
Page 5
This week's pet is Tyler, who is an absolutely beautiful
Labrador Retriever mix puppy. He has an unusual appear-
ance for a Lab, however. Tyler has gorgeous brindle
markings, which make us think he is also part
Boxer. He's got a great temperament and seems to love
everyone. This is an easy-going little guy who would make
a terrific family dog.
Tyler
