The MaritimeONE Scholarship ProgrammeMaritimeONE recognises that a healthy

inflow of young local talents is needed to

serve as the foundation of a company’s

growth and success as well as to sustain a

population to contribute to the progress of

our Singapore’s maritime industry.

As the Secretariat of the MaritimeONE,

SMF spearheads the MaritimeONE

Scholarship initiative, which aims to attract

and nurture outstanding young individuals

for the maritime industry.

Work with us to groom the next generation of maritime leaders.

About MaritimeONEThe  MaritimeONE (Outreach  NEtwork)  is the key manpower

initiative for maritime stakeholders to collectively raise awareness

of the maritime industry as well as to profile education and career

opportunities to the students and committed individuals.

The MaritimeONE initiative was launched in April 2007 by the

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Singapore Maritime

Foundation (SMF), Association of Singapore Marine Industries

(ASMI) and Singapore Shipping Association (SSA).

The MaritimeONE partnership activities include industry awareness

talks, scholarship offers, student outreach events and regular

networking events for employers and tertiary students.

One of the key MaritimeONE initiatives is the MaritimeONE

Scholarship Programme. Since the programme’s inception, a total

scholarship amount exceeding S$10million has been awarded to

more than 380 outstanding youths to pursue courses locally and

abroad.

The maritime industry is one of the key pillars of Singapore’s economy, with ample opportunities for young people to develop their careers. As such, we need to remain steadfast in our efforts to promote the maritime sector and nurture talent. With the strong support of the maritime community, SMF will work with our partners to groom our scholars to be outstanding maritime leaders.

Mr Andreas Sohmen-PaoChairman of SMF and MaritimeONE

Our Mission To raise awareness and understanding of the maritime

industry among students and their influence groups,

and to interest them in maritime education and

careers via various outreach initiatives.

Our Vision A vibrant Maritime Singapore that is recognized as a

pillar of Singapore’s economic growth and an industry

of choice for students and jobseekers.

Pledge Your Support

SUPPORT A WORTHY CAUSE The MaritimeONE Scholarship programme reflects

the maritime community’s joint efforts to attract and

nurture local young talents into our Singapore maritime

workforce. Your company will help pave the way for

promising individuals to be the next generation of

outstanding maritime leaders, by pledging its support to

the programme.

STRENGTHEN COMPANY’S PRESENCE SMF selects suitable MaritimeONE scholars to be profiled

in promotional campaigns, advertorials in newspapers,

youth-centric magazines, campus publications and other

potential media.

SMF works with schools and media partners to spearhead

a series of initiatives aimed at profiling education and

career opportunities to students from Institutes of Higher

Learning (IHLs). Notable maritime professionals from

MaritimeONE sponsors will also be invited to participate

at talks to share interesting insights about maritime

careers and prospective career paths to young people.

By participating in these youth outreach initiatives, a

MaritimeONE sponsor will be able to raise their profile and

reinforce the company’s branding to students and their

influence groups.

GROOM FUTURE EMPLOYEES The MaritimeONE Scholarship programme is committed

to nurture and attract local young talents to join the

maritime industry. Under this programme, MaritimeONE

scholars will have opportunities to participate in initiatives

such as maritime conferences, networking events and

learning journeys to become knowledgeable maritime

professionals.

Under our programme, MaritimeONE sponsors may have

the option to bond their sponsored scholars upon their

graduation to the company or to allow the scholars to

serve the Singapore maritime industry. Sponsors also

have the option to have their sponsored scholars intern

with them during their school holidays.

MINIMALIZE ADMINISTRATION WORK SMF promises a hassle-free partnership with minimal

administrative work where MaritimeONE sponsors will not

have to worry about cumbersome details and planning.

SMF will handle the administration of the scholarship,

from the interview process to the monitoring of and

disbursement of funds to the scholars.

Jurong Port has given out more than 10 MaritimeONE Scholarships to students from the Maritime, Business and Engineering fields in the last 7 years. We value new ideas and fresh perspectives from these talents and are committed to investing time and resources to recruit and develop outstanding young talents who want to contribute to our strategic vision of becoming a next generation multipurpose port. The MaritimeONE scholarship programme, jointly offered with the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), complements our efforts in this aspect, and is today one of the best avenues for young talents to gain exposure to this exciting and evolving industry.
