Development of Appleby Street

Initial plot of the film• Initially, our film was to be filmed from my point of view, with me,

as well as Ben and Aimee, being characters in the film.• However, whilst filming we stumbled over frequent problems with

the camera angles and shots as we did not get the effect we first imagined. With the film being from my point of view we were limited to just the point of view shot and so could not add in the different camera angles and shots to develop the film further and highlight our knowledge and techniques we knew we could display in our filming.

• So with this in mind, I decided to take up solely the role of camera man and was no longer a character in the film, leaving Ben and Aimee to act whilst I was camera man, helping us to gain the best effects we could possibly have for our film.

• In making these changes, this also allowed the audience to gain a better understanding of what the film consisted of.

• If the film had ended with me dying, as it initially did, then there would have been no real carry on for the film as the character of whom the film was based on the perspective of would have died.

Plot

• As the films storyline was initially based on me being a character in the film, we had to change the films plot.

• Going from 3 characters to 2 characters, we decided that the ending would now change, leaving the film with a shot of the killer leaving the crime scene and following him face sideways to reveal that the film will carry on and that this would not be the end of the killers killing spree., leaving a chain of events that may occur. This will give the effect on the audience that suspense has been created, and that now they have got a taste of what the killer is capable of, they will be left feeling constantly ‘glued’ to the storyline, in suspense that the killer could strike at any moment.
