DESCRIPTION

The Hebrew square script dates back a few thousand years. At dates earlier than 200 B.C.E the visual disparities between the scripts are too great for the average person to discern that they are reading the same language. Much like any language, Hebrew as language has become associated with its distinctive letters. Today, the most common Hebrew letter faces or scripts are the square script (used in printing books), cursive script (used when writing Hebrew by hand), and Rashi script (used in religious, Jewish primarily for type facing commentaries).
