DO YOU TRAIN WITH A FAKE INSTRUCTOR??!!

Your stepping into a prospective "school", you're met by an imposing-looking guy

wearing a Gi. A beat-up old black belt is tied around his waist, embroidered with

impressive looking Asian characters. There are certificates mounted on the wall beh

him; one of them shows that John Smith is a 10th Dan black belt in martial art that

you've never heard of; another claims that John Smith is the "Grandmaster & Found

of "I can beat them down Karate" - and, yes, you're talking to...Grandmaster & FounSmith himself! Wow, you must be in the presence of a REAL DEAL, right? Think

again. I have been in the martial for over 36+ years and have had several instructo

some that blew my mind in ability and knowledge and some that,.. Well could not fig

their way out of a wet paper bag or answer WHAT IF QUESTIONS or for that matte

why are we doing it like this? They look at you as IF, HOW DARE YOU ASK!!

I am sure some of you see adds that say How to become a Martial Arts Instrucin 9 easy stepsOrbecome an instructor in a 2 day seminar. I could go on andbut I am sure you get the point.

THE ANATOMY OF A FAKE INSTRUCTOR

Let us look at the anatomy of a FAKE instructor. First they are 100s of ways to beca FAKE instructor but I will touch on ones I have seen and experienced.1) Fake certification 2) Online certification 3) seminar certifications.

Lets us look at the first one Fake certification: They are just that FAKE, They aremade up, some go as far as making up the school and or associations for thatcertification. They make themselves GRAND MASTERS ect.. A good way to see IFcertification is good is to contact the organization. Generally a good Federation orOrganization will have multiple instructors not always but usually.

The second one is Online Certifications: Thishappens all too often, for $125 to $1ect.. you can get certified as Fitness instructor, martial arts instructor ect..Now thatnot to say online certifications are bogus. Its just depends on the organization. Is thorganization legitimate? They are some fantastic Organization that do their home wthey make sure you are qualified to do the job.

The Third is Seminar Certification: This is probably one of the worst because it tends to lend creditability to the one wantcertification. i.e. you pay $175.00 for the seminar and additional $25 to $50 to get certified as an instructor So BANG NOyou are an Instructor. Instructors like me give out apprentice instructor certification only!! Now that begin said onecannot be an instructor of anything with 16hrs of training. I call them PAPER DRAGONS

Are you Fit 2 Fight? You WILL fight the way you train

Anything worth fighting for is worth fighting dirty for. This is a true story of the time I ca

face to face with a real life situation that occurred at the Roxy Nightclub in Houston, Tex

sometime during my bad boy days in 2007. I was in the men's restroom urinating from alarge consumption of beer plus liquor and was ambushed and pushed hard into the urina

an unknown guy standing about 6'6". My immediate reaction was turning around saying

the attacker, Look at your leg, while simultaneously urinating on him. At the same time

stepping into close quarters range with a powerful palm heel chin jab, while retracting th

palm into a rake across the face quickly transitioning into a brutal eye rake, into to a sho

shot elbow to the face. Next, I reached around his head for a claw and head twist, maki

his throat exposed for a C-Clamp and spit into his eye, while growling and swearing to p

fear and panic into him. I finished him off by slamming his head into the urinal. The

attacker fell to the ground unable to attack. Lastly, I exited the club in a cool, calm,

collected manner, and drove to a nearby 24 hour restaurant to eat. However, I was

concerned of retaliation or any legal action but was lucky.

By the same token, if you are in a stall and defecating into a toilet and an attacker kicks

door in, you might have a split second to kick the door back in and grab your own feces

throw into the attackers face. This creates a shock value. By creating this startle flinch

response you can follow up with a grab, twist, and rip his testicles with a sequence of

offensive attacks to get out of there. My point is to do your worst, fast and first. If your

is going to depend on it, it damn well better WORK, and to hell with style and art. Do

you honestly think what you've learned at the Dojo, or in Sports MMA (with it's rules and

judges), or in the latest alphabet-soup dressed-in-camo "military" system will help you w

fight for your life against prison-hardened street animals? I dont want to offend anybod

but I seriously doubt it. Look, if you want to put on pajamas and colorful belts and bow

pull your punches, or spar against someone who isnt really trying to hurt you, thats fine

Its healthy and good for you. Im not knocking it. But that is NOT fighting and is NOT se

    defense training.

There are three systems I am currently training in Dark Gift Combat Fighting System, Pe

Tirsia Kali, and FAST Defense to dominate any situation. I blend all three, as well as, other combat arts and defensive tact

into combative conditioning workouts. This makes the difference between winning and losing a street fight or with sports

boxing or MMA. The physical and psychological development of a martial artist, self-defense technician or MMA fighter is t

achieve maximum performance in a combat situation. Keep in mind that Combat Conditioning is a slow and arduous proce

that will take a considerable amount of time. It will not happen overnight! However, if you are serious about achieving yo

combat conditioning goals then it can be accomplished with my Fit 2 Fight Training.

If you want Self-Defense that actually WORKS in real physical violence, you need to learn it from a trainer who has been

immersed in physical violence all of his life. One who actually knows violence directly. That means real-world experience w

multiple violent encounters as an ex-gang member as a child, into a real man becoming an Infantry Rifleman in the U.S.

Marines. However, going down the bad boy road after the death of my son. I became a Club Promoter, Bouncer, Bodyguafor some major criminals. On the positive, I turned a new leaf in life and the best way I can honor my son and father afte

losing them and surviving my coma is inspiring people motivationally. This is why I became a Personal Fitness Trainer and

Self-Defense Instructor fighting to never give up and thats when I created Fit 2 Fight which continues to evolve. Sometim

the ones who have the darkest hours are the ones who end up soaring the highest. Fight and train with heart, and protec

the most important weapon- the mind. - by Mike Semper-Fi Morales ofwww.Fit2Fight.com

    DESPITE NATIONAL TRAGEDY, TRUTH IS,

    GUNS SAVE LIVES

FBI statistics prove Second Amendment must remain intact

On December 11, Jacob Tyler Roberts, 22, wearingtactical clothing and a hockey mask

,randomly opened fire on shoppers andemployees in theClackamas Town Centershoppin

mall in ClackamasCounty, Oregon, killing two peopleand seriously wounding a thirdbefor

committing suicide. Three days later, after allegedly murdering hismother while she slept,

AdamLanza, 20, allegedly shot his way into SandyHook Elementary School in

Newtown, Connecticut, and viciously murdered20 first-graders and sixadults before takin

own life.Although it appears that both incidents may be the work of mentally-ill individuals,

lattersent severe shock waves across the planet of an intensity not exhibited since the 9-1

false-flag attacksover 11 years ago. Sadness gripped thecountry and Americans openly

sobbed for the innocent lives that were so savagely ended.Although it seems nearly certa

that some sortof gun control legislation will pass Congress innext years session and be

signed into law, itsworth remembering that guns are responsible for saving many more liv

than they are given creditfor in the corporate-controlled mainstream media.Gun-Haters Seize the Moment

Leftist anti-gun zealots in D.C., N.Y. and L.A. should admit, once and for all, what they rewant: the outlawing of privately-owned firearms by American citizens. Of course theyll n

reveal their true motives, so instead tragedies such as the Newtown massacre are exploite

erode our Second Amendment rights. The unspoken secret harbored among these gun-ha

movie stars and politicians is that many of them have concealed carry permits, as do

armed bodyguards. Plus, they work in buildings protected by metal detectors and sec

personnel that brandish weapons. In other words, theyll remain safe, but nobody else wil

news broke regarding the Sandy Hook school shooting, it didnt take long for NYC M

Michael Bloomberg todeclare,[Obama] needs to send a bill to Congress to fix this prob

Calling for meaningful action is not enough. We need immediate action. What Bloom

failed to mention was that Connecticut already has some ofAmericas most severe gun colaws.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) pronounced that Obama should exploit this heartbrea

situation, whereas Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) sneered, The NRA is an enabler of m

murder, and its time we stood up to them. However, both of these legislators neglected to

constituents that on the same day as the Connecticut murders, a man in Beijing, C

wielded a knifenot a gunto attack 23 children inside their elementary school. On the W

coast, Hollywood bleeding hearts such as Alec Baldwin, Michael Moore and Mia Farrow all demanded gun control now

did newsman Keith Olbermann. CNN talk show host Piers Morgan had an on-air meltdown, comparing Sandy Hoo

Scotlands 1996 slaying of 16 children inside a school. This is Americas Dunblane, Morgan frothed. Finally, MS

blowhard Ed Schultz called the Founding Fathers who wrote our Second Amendment slaveowners. For his part, only two months ago during the second presidential debate, Barack Obama specifically floated the notio

getting an assault weapons ban introduced. As his former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel once famously quipped in

Machiavellian fashion, Neverlet a serious crisis go to waste.

    Dave Workman Interview

One day prior to the Sandy Hook tragedy, AMERICAN FREE PRESS interviewedDave Workman, senioredito

The Gun Mag, the officialpublication of theSecond AmendmentFoundation, a nonprofit organizationthat works tirele

toprotect Americans inalienable right to bear arms.Saddened by the senseless tragedies, Workman said: These are

events, and because they dont happen all the time theyre obviouslyhigh profile. As the media says, If it bleeds, it leWhen news stories like this surface andflash across the country they receive plenty of coverage. It gives the impression

America is a violent country but thats not necessarily correct.Confirming a previous AFP reportfrom the August 13, 2

edition, Workmansaid, Over the past five years, theres been a steady increase in firearms sales and concealed c

permits. Plus, more people that have never owned a gun are also purchasing them for the first time. Yet, during this s

period, the violent crime rate has steadily decreased. If you check FBI statistics, they speak forthemselves.

Well versed on this subject, Workman stressed:These numbers clearly point out that it was amyth to begin with when

gun prohibition lobby claimed that more weapons in private hands wouldlead to more crime. Its nothing but scare rhetoric

The irony here, added Workman, is that the exceptions to Americas declining crime rate arelargely located in cities that h

banned guns.Ifyou look at large municipalities like Chicago,L.A., D.C. and Detroit that have higher crime rates, theyve

enacted strict firearms laws, said Workman. Citizenscant fight back even thoughthey possess a constitutionally prote

civil rightto do so. When asked why certain groups cant seem to connect the dots, Workman replied, The progres

mindset is one of denial. They refuse to acknowledge that one of their core beliefs may in fact be wrong, or that they w

mistaken. Without an evolution of thought or a process of maturity, they cant deal in a logical adult way with proof

everything they believed about guns being bad was wrong. The core of their foundations would be shaken to the ground.

Pertaining to this same subject, only hours after the Newtown massacre, Barack Obama vowed to take meaningful actio

satisfy his left-leaning supporters. Workmans thoughts on this subject were evident. A lot of people are concerned

during Obamas second term hell enact some sort of gun control legislation. Obama went on the record in 2008 w

Pittsburgh newspaper [Tribune-Review] stating that hes against concealed carry. His record in Illinois also proves that he

fan of guns. If Congress handed him a pure pro-gun rights bill, Im certain hed immediately veto it.

Obviously, the latest massacres will do nothing to change the impression that America is teeming with violence, especial

those residing in foreign countries with strict gun control laws. Workman observed, They still think were the Wild West.

cultural thing. People learn about us by watching our movies. These films make for colorful entertainment, but theyre a l

hype and not very realistic. Similarly, Workman pointed out, FollowingAustralias Port Arthur Massacre, autho

confiscated a majority of guns. Of course, shortly thereafter homicides shot through the roof. Violent crime is also going

up in England. There, defending yourself can land you in jail. Its a crime.

Comparing their societies with our own, Workman concluded, The Wild West was actually a pretty peaceful place beca

people knew the other guy would shoot back. Today in the U.S., taking out a bad guy is a public service.

Technique: Not a throw of the dice

When you think of dice you think of gambling right? Where the throw of the dice may omay not rest in a position you were hoping it would. And because of the randomness othe game, winning is not a sure thing. Many martial artists out there perform their art in the same way. Every time they initiatethrow, takedown, sweep, or any other technique, they throw it out there and hope for thbest. Let me say thisyou CAN control every technique from initiation to execution andeverywhere in between.

The physical action is the simple part, it is the mind that lets go and disconnects fromwhat is happening. Dont deny it, you know its true. What we need to realize, is thatEVERYTHING we do has to be connected in mind, body, and spirit. You control what happening from beginning to end. All you have to do is be conscious of not only thedynamics, but the physics and energy involved. Granted it takes effort both mentally anphysically, but isnt that what we should be doing already? Heres what Id like you to do, keep it simple; do a forward roll. Yes, I said a forward royou cannot stop your roll at the point in time you wish.youre dice. When youvemastered that, then work on, lets say, a throw. You should be able to control the inertiand position of your uke from every level in between initiation and execution. What we do and how we do it should never be random and thrown out there. Andwherever it lands should not be a gamble.

You really do have the ability to be a practitioner who can master everything with a totaconnect.Life is not a gamble, its a state of mind, and so is martial art. Houston armored car guard wanted for felony theftHere is an article I saw in the Houston Chronicle. Mr.Traylor

Houston TX Dec 6 2012 When his work shift ended, armored car employee Nathanie

Jerome Smith turned in bags of money that he had collected from businesses along his

route on Oct. 31, according to Harris County prosecutors.

The problem, investigators said, is that he was one bag short. The discrepancy has

resulted in a felony theft charge for Smith, 26, who remained at large Tuesday and was

being sought by Houston police. Investigators said that Smith was supposed to return bags of money at the end of his shift at Armored Car Company, but only 11 bags were

handed over to the company in the 15000 block of Vantage.

Company officials launched an investigation into the missing loot and asked Smith to ta

a lie-detector test, which he failed, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday.

Police said that Smith confessed to taking the $20,000 cash and hiding the money in a

dumpster. After the (company) started investigating the missing cash money, the

defendant admitted that he threw the money over the fence into the company property

with an anonymous note, according to the complaint. When questioned by police, Sm

characterized the money loss as a mistake, prosecutors said.

The defendant confessed to taking the cash money, but stated it was an accident, the

complaint states. Smith told police that he threw the money in the trash when he emp

the trash from the truck.Defendant stated he did not know how to return the money so he kept it for a couple of

days then decided to throw the money over the fence with a note to ret urn it.

In the Ring I Win, In the Streets I Survive

We call it the Mental Game. But what do we mean by the Mental Game? You hearathletes say it in sports, in preparation for their game or craft. It seems simple enough, can be quite complex at the same time. It is simple, because we are always thinking. Ahuman beings we have these thought processes that go on every second of every dayour lives. But do we understand how these thought processes affect us? And how do taffect specific aspects of our lives? More importantly, how do we take advantages of th

processes? Many studies have gone into understanding the human brain and specificaour minds. The brain and our thoughts are quite complex. Neurons, synapses, transmissions, etc., all these happen and we dont all understand their potential do we?be honest, I dont full understand either. I dont have a pure and applied science degredont spend hours reading research on the brain and its potential. What I do have isexperience. My name is, Wes Derequito. I am a reality-based self-defense instructor, MMA coach aa personal trainer. My experience is not directly with the brain, but with people. Andpeople have brains (well most of them do I believe). But what I understand with workinwith so many individuals is that everyone learns, reacts, thinks, sees and does everythdifferently. Sure, we have similarities, but each individual has their own personalexperience with what they observe and do. I see it all the time, whether I am trainingsomeone to lose weight, or coaching one of my students for an MMA match. But it is semost when teaching self-defense. When it comes to self-defense it becomes more reaEach person is different. They are not training for a sanctioned fight, where there arerules, weight classes, preparation time and prior knowledge of their opponent. They arnecessarily preparing for a future goal. They are learning how to survive and hopefullyovercome a potential threat against their safetyIn the ring I win, in the streets Isurvive. Look at the two words, WIN and SURVIVE - Two different words with twodifferent meanings. When you enter a sanctioned fight with rules, you MUST have awinning attitude if you want to maximize your potential to win the fight. I have seen fighwhere you can see the fighter is going to lose the match before it even begins. Watchearly Mike Tyson fights. Watch how he entered the ring, how he looked at his opponenlooking for that chink in their armor ahead of time. Most of the time, that mentality goinhad his opponents beat before the bell rang. It is about instilling his will upon them. Anthis affected their mind, messing up their gameplan. Emotions get the best of them (mofear), and they lost. But, was it the weakness of the mind of Iron Mikes opponents that

was the determining factor? Maybe, maybe not. But what I think was most important, wMikes mind. It was how HE went in the ring, and how HE felt going in. And it was abouMike seeing the weakness, not necessarily about the other person being weak. It wasabout what Mike Tyson could control, because he cannot fully control his opponent. Hehad to let his working mind observe and feel it out to benefit himself. He visualized his wAnd his visualization needed to be stronger than his opponents. Thus, his winning

mindset. Now, we can have this winning mindset in our everyday lives as well. We often see things as competition. And thcan be beneficial with moving up in your career or becoming top in your class in school. But does it translate well when youlife is at stake because someone decides to attack you? It can be, but depending on your perception of the word, win, it mrisk having your self-defense training ego-driven.This is my perspective on the topic, it may not be yours. However, saying I will win this fight (real-life attack) could be counproductive. Do you actually ever win? What is winning? Thanks to Charlie Sheen winning is a lot of things, but in a streetscenario, there are too many variables to consider coming out of the situation a win. Lets say you are successful in

neutralizing your assailant. Is it a win, if that assailant, assuming they are still alive because we have certain moral and legvalues, remembers you the next time and attacks and kills you then. Or worse- goes after your loved ones in revenge. Is itwin if you injured yourself severally during the attack? I know horror stories of people who nearly lost their hands due toexcess punching in a street fight and had gangrene from open cut infection on their hand. Win? Win is ego-driven. Nothingmore. Think about it. If you win a game or match its for you mostly. If you were in a street fight, where you can legallydefended yourself and you begin bragging that you won a fight, is that not your ego talking? But like I said, everyone isdifferent. If someone was in the middle of the situation and their life was in danger, and they told themselves that I need tothis situation and thats what helps them get out, then all the power to them. But, we still need to understand winning is noimportant.

In the Ring I Win, In the Streets I SurviveCont..

The funny thing is, conversely, in an MMA/boxing fight, when someone is simply surviving, that is not considered favouraThat is because its a game, a sport, and there should be a clear cut winner. There is performance. And surviving does notgive you performance points. On the street, you SHOULD NOT be thinking about performance. What matters is you get hosafe. And if not for you, get home to your loved ones. You must survive, think nothing else.

It is also strategic, by simply thinking survival when in danger. All living beings, from tiny insect to the largest animal havesurvival instincts and each has their own attribute to maximize that ability. As human beings we are not the strongest, fasteor most durable. But we are the smartest. So we need to use our minds to survive. Having the best punching power meansnothing if you dont have the will to act to use it. But we cannot over think either. Relying on technical skills that are basedmemorization often does more harm than good. There is this phenomena that occurs when a stressful event occurs, namedangerous attack on our well being, in which we lose the ability to access fine motor skills. So I like to teach my studentswhen defending themselves use simple attacks and instead of thinking I need to do this move and that move I tell themthink, I need to survive. I give them the tools, it is up to them to use them. Believe me when I say that at least 60% of anyaltercation is psychological. And if there is one thing I can say I teach better than most is unlocking that warrior mentality tofight for more than a win. It is imperative to always have the warrior mentality. I have learned the difference between a figand a warrior. This could be semantics for many, but for the sake of argument a warrior mentality is a lifestyle and somethmore internal and eternal. A fighter is more physical. A true warrior fights forsomething more than themselves. Dont get mwrong. There are athletes and fighters who are also warriors. I am an MMA coach as well, but I make sure I instil that warr

mentality in my fighters, so that they can be more than just a fighter. This way, they will always be winners no matter whaIt is about bridging the two mentalities winning and surviving. What matters are finding out what it is that is worth fightingNeither mentality should give up, for one thing. And both mentalities should consistently believe in themselves to minimizefailure. Again, it is all relative. Each person will view this differently. Each person will read this article and perceive itdifferently as well. The truth is it doesnt matter. What matters is how you make it work for you. And remember your mind iyour most powerful tool. Allow your thoughts to help you rather than hinder. If you do this, you become a better fighter andbetter warrior. If you do this you succeed. In the ring you succeed, in the street you succeed. - W.

what is the best pistol to buy

I teach Concealed Carry classes from time to time in Colorado. Students ask me wha

the best pistol to buy. I tell them, "I don't know, I don't have enough information."

Although a 45 cal will stop and more likely kill an attacker breaking in your home, can

45 cal be easily concealed in thin layer clothing out in public? Do you work at a gym a

wear shorts or do you work in business attire? Are you a construction worker or do yo

work in cold environments where you wear thick layers? For females, do you wear a

dress or skirt, business slacks, shorts or pants? It's easier to conceal between the up

tighs of a female wearing a dress or skirt. Are you a female that wants to conceal in a

purse, and how big is your purse? Do you wear a large jacket and is it appropriate to

climate? Are you in areas that are more likely to encounter gangs or large number m

groups? For guys, do you wear your pants at the waist or half way down your butte?

you need a pistol that would only need to hold one or two bullets and hang from your

neck? Or would you more likely need 15 rounds in your magazine to counter multiple

attackers? For some, a single or double shot Dillinger may work and for others a lagemm or 45 cal. Do you want to carry concealed on multiple locations on your body

(leg/boot, waist/hip, armpit, back, forearm or around a neck chain)? Many people

wouldn't bother you, if you pulled out a squirt gun that looked real. The criminals mos

want to hit easy prey targets and walk away (or run) from anyone that brandishes a

pistol of any caliber. Criminals know that even if a 22 cal hits them, it would at least d

blood, which, if left at the scene of the crime, may ID them. Can a 22 cal kill an attac

Indeed! History proves this. Can a 9mm (or mid-range/power bullet) kill? Of course it

can. But all you really need to do is "stop the threat" and then escape, if possible.

Sometimes you may need to kill, to eliminate the threat to yourself or others. So how

good of a shot are you under stress (not just at the shooting range). The more you trathe better your odds. Buy a 22 cal for the jog around town and to practice with (since

bullets are cheap). Buy a 9 mm (or any mid-range/power size) for times you wear reg

attire that can conceal your "side iron." Buy a 45 cal to carry in your brief case, car, o

desk, or trench coat. Some people like hammerless, others like the visible hammer because it becomes very intimidating

when you hear and see a hammer drawn back. The sound and sight of a hammer being pulled back means "serious

business," and that alone may cause the aggressors to rethink their actions and run. Some don't like the hammer because

may snag on clothing. Some like the revolvers and some like magazine fed pistols. Revolvers may carry less ammo, but ho

many shots would you need to aid in your escape or to "stop the threat?" Revolvers may be bulky, so take this into

consideration. Some feel the revolver is less likely to jam and for females--they may like the revolvers for feeding ammo.

Many women with long nails do not like feeding magazines with ammo. Some people like the black-look to conceal more

during the dark and others want the chrome pieces to flash out and show the attacker that they are holding a serious piece

shiny medal which is less likely to be a black toy gun. Everyone has their preference and budget. You can always start with

inexpensive 22 (or any small size cal) and later buy a larger cal. We are not superheroes that need the biggest and the bes

    fight crime nightly.

Buy something now that is in your budget and practice your aim under stress to see how you can handle your weapons an

how effective your aim is at various distances. Many expert shooters at the range do average, at best, under stressful

situations. Try to conceal and draw your weapon quickly (without shooting off your feet). Do this after trying on different ou

Some prefer "no safety" on their pistol because if they are going to draw it, then they are going to shot it. For a novice to

average shooter, I recommend a safety, but practice putting it on safe and taking it off safe quickly. Make sure to try a vari

of holsters and see what works best for your situation. A good pistol with a lousy holster is not a good combination. Single

double action is also a preference. Go to the range and practice both and see what works better for your aim. Look at your

targets and see which one you do better at. The proof is on the target. I personally like single action and "no safety," but I

have both. I like the cool chrome but I have black pistols also. I have a variety of holsters for different outfits. I enjoy all of m

weapons. I like the power of the 45 1911 but I like the price of the pistol and ammo for a 22. And if I go out looking for sma

game the 22 works wonders. I like my pistols to multi task for hunting, sport shooting and personal protection. Have "Atten

Deficit Disorder" (ADD) with your training and change it up often. Buy what you can afford and when that gets boring, save

for the next piece. Know your local laws for concealed carry and never point at anything you are not willing to shot to protec

yourself or others around you. If you cannot conceal carry in certain areas, find out if you can carry it in a seperate case or

visibly carry it. If you cannot carry at all in possibly dangerous areas, then carry a knife, medal/tactical pen or baseball bat.

One of the first things we need to look at is Experience, How much experience does the instructor have.

There are many reasons to study a form of self defense, some look for real world self-defense training or better known as

Reality Based Self Defense. If R.B.S.D. training is your main concern, you need to make certain that your instructor has te

what he or she teaches. Many fake "Instructors, Combat Instructors and so called masters" know nothing about martial art

Combative theory and all to often are paved together from conflicting sources such as books, magazines, DVD and from th

internet like youtube, but know almost nothing about REAL WORLD application. The other thing we need to now focus on

the Instructors Skill Level. Examine as he or she instructs the class. All claims and proof aside, does the instructor look lik

he or she REALLY knows what they are doing? Can he or she clearly convey, articulate what you need to do and can he o

she do what they are asking you to do? Can he or she inspire students? Not only should you look for an instructor who is a

skilled practitioner, your prospective instructor should have solid communication and instruction skills, too! Fake "instructor

are often all too perceptibly counterfeit when you observe their actual instructing a class but of course, there are exception

    every rule...

What really gets me is that these so called instructors can guide you to a false sense of ability and security in defendingyourself or your loved ones. Can get you hurt badly or worse KILLED.

Now I do have to say that I have certifications that are not worth the ink its written on. They just gave it awaywhich upset

I was there trying to get training and instead I was teaching a guy that did not merit a certification Yet he got one just like m

He was not even close to begin an instructor in that arena..He just did not have enough experience in that area or instruct

He was a great instructor in his discipline but not what we are doing, He was just lostSo How will he teach his students I

he cant effectively demonstrate to his students what they need to do and to answer WHAT IF questions? Now that being

said: They are exceptions to every rule...What I mean is that IF he or she only teach their higher ranked students, which g

him time to learn, practices the material. What I get upset about is some of these FAKE Instructors open up a studio with o

certification from seminars NO real training on the material or in depth study. So you have this CLOWN showing you stuff

sometimes you look at and think NO FREAKING WAY

I could go on and on but I will notJust be careful and vent your potential InstructorDo not throw away your money or yo

safety to some crack pot that all he wants to FEEL LIKE A BIG MAN and take your money.

How aware are you or are you Condition Brown?

Awareness seems to be one thing lacking in many seminars I have attended or in jusregular training. We are armed with knowledge of techniques, how to execute, and hto survive. Teaching awareness of ones surroundings seems to be lacking. Most wothink it may come natural to the hard core martial arts mindset, but the hobbyist, probably not. He or she may think I train, I can walk this alley or whatever area. In ord

for complete survival we must be aware of our surroundings. Awareness is the keyfactor in any situation for survival. A fellow Martial Artist, Aaron Chappell added a newterminology to my vocabulary; Condition Brown = head up his/her butt making themunaware of their surroundings. This meaning the people who we see jogging, mainlyfemales would be targets. The iPod in, probably full blast, getting lost in the music, acompletely unaware of their surroundings, why because I am sure the mindset is; I amjogging in a safe place. No place is 100% safe. People who jog in parks, especially ifthe same routine every day, predators do watch these people to see how aware theyof his/her surroundings. The predator sees iPod; they cannot hear me running up behind them. It is possible listen to your iPod and be aware, because those who are aware of the lay of the landare observing the people, the locations of where some people are standing that is notypical. They will be aware as they pass by, causing the look down and back with the

peripheral vision. That is just one of many scenarios some others could be, walking uan ATM, going out at night and having to park the car and walk. My personal experieis Ybor City in Tampa, FL a fun place to go as it has many attractions, but also adangerous place at the same time.My first two times was with a few fellow martial art guys and the discussion was starboth on awareness and what would you do, but all three of us are aware and payingattention. One took lead, one took the middle, and I took the back because I payattention even after passing, noticing any nooks and crannies where one may hide tojump out. By the end of that night I was promoted to she has my back, you can drivewas honored. My third visit was with my brothers girlfriend whom is definitely all girl avery nave to the dangers out there. On the way back to the car I noticed two malescoming toward us on the sidewalk. At this point I grabbed her and moved her to theoutside, as I had originally been walking the curb for her safety. She asked what is

wrong. I told her the guys right there; I am not having a good feel ing. Here are my keif anything happens run. There is a police car one block up, who was detainingsomeone. The guys came and we walked by each other, I did the courtesy dip theshoulder back, but of course he did not. After a few more steps the male proceeds toturn around and start talking trash. I told her go, walk fast, I dropped my head enough

I could see with my peripheral vision if they were going to charge or not. Even in my short shorts, wedge heels (yes I dopractice training in them so I know what I can do); a shirt that goes around my neck (halter style) I was still armed not onlywith a weapon, but awareness was a key factor. They did turn and walk away after a bit. It is paying attention all the time. not paranoia or hyper-vigilance but awareness.Going out to eat, check for all exits and always sit where you can see everything happening. Walking in a parking garage, walk in the center observe if you can see shadows under the vehicles. Pass cautiously looking between the cars. There aremany situations where awareness and observation is essential. We can train all day and every day, but if we are in theCondition Brown state, what good is your training. We train to protect ourselves, but in the same token we train to avoidhaving to use it. At some point one becomes a weapon. That by most states law can get us into trouble, because with all oour training, why did we not just put the person in a lock until law enforcement arrived. Law enforcement does not alwaysrespond in 1 minute and we have to take care of ourselves and family. Another point for of awareness is your posture. Are one that walks with a secure and confident air about you that states I am not a victim? Or are you the one that walks withhead slightly down and shoulders hunched forward a little bit indicating a victim status?

Are you ready just in case with whatever T.O.Y.S an acronym for tools of your surroundings, whether it is keys, mace, twblades (because one on each side is good), or on the back. There are many items; I have on my key chain a kubatan/palmstick, mace, and keys. Plus I have a few blades and an actual pen that is steel. Being a female I get away with the kubatanclaim that I use it in my purse because I have a slot it slides into; it is just a key chain. I bought it at key chain shop. Yes Ipulled that at the court house as I forgot to take it off before going in. I played stupid; they held it until I came back out andinformed me of its purpose. So when teaching, it is a good idea to teach awareness, because no matter how bad ass orskilled we are, if we are not aware of our surroundings we may lose severely. We must be aware of the attacker. Are theyarmed? Can we tell? Is a hand slightly hidden by the leg possibly holding a knife or some type of weapon in their possessioAs a Teacher, an Instructor, a Master, a Guro, a Guru, or a Sensei; making sure all students understand the importance of

being aware of his and her surroundings is key. If not one of your students could be hurt or killed. Do not lack stressing theimportance of what being aware of his or her surroundings out there in the world can do to help prevent a situation fromoccurring. If the students are taught in class to be aware then he or she will be that much safer on the street, whether alonewith the family.

Bio:As a child I have always been interested in Martial Arts. I loved watching Kung Fu Sundays on USA. Around 11 years old my parentsallowed me to start training in American Karate, unfortunately I moved to my mothers and training stopped.I started training again around 27 years old when I enrolled my son into Tae Kwon Do. We trained under Master Fullington for 3 years. Ithen met Jason Segerson, who trained me in Ninjitsu. I left TKD and trained with another group they titled it Street Karate, briefly createdLaw enforcement officers. I later married Jason so my sole training was Ninjitsu. After our divorce, I branched out to train with InstructorGregory T Slack, a Swat Team member, at his place Gladiators Combat Club in Jackson, TN. He trained me in boxing, Muay Thai, and

Krav Maga both privates and class settings. While training with Instructor Slack, I also trained with Guro Adam Buchter in Mande MudaPenchak Silat, Herman Suwanda style and Inosanto Blend FMA. I aslo trained in Memphis with Robin Schermerhorn in FMA, his style wa blend of Inosanto, Dog Brothers, La Coste and a few others.I moved to Florida and I practiced with Anthony Chan, FCS Kali and Wing Chun and Aaron Chappell who does PSP Silat. I have alsoattended with Anthony Chan some of the FCS Kali Instructor Camps. I am constantly keeping my passion in tact as I will be back to it.I am currently on break, I still practice. I had back surgery in 2009, but I still continued my training. However in 2012 I was rear-ended, I currently rehabbing my back.In this I know most ask my belt or my level, I never tested.
