INTRODUCTION

Education is not confined to classroom teaching.The classroom can cover only a small part of our total life. If the pupils learning is to become full and well rounded the pupils must go beyond the four walls of the classroom participate in the community and learns from their experience.The students must act as a working participant in the community.

Science fairs and exhibitions are interchangeably used in the educational literature. But in strict sense they are different.An exhibition is a organized presentation and display of a selection of items.The chief purpose of science fair is to give students first hand experiences that cannot be had in the classroom . Exhibitions co-relates learning in the classroom with the community, it develop social awareness and social skills, in pupils. Exhibitions provide enough raw materials that would promote development of senses, knowledge, emotions and skills.

SCIENCE FAIR

Science fair is purely and educative activity carried out in a systematic manner entirely for the advancement of science. It is an excellent device for acquainting the parents as well as other people in the community with the science related work being done in schools.Science fair provides an opportunity for the display of valuable work done in the science club by the students and sponsers. The fair helps the students benefit from the achievement of others and promotes a spirit of competition. Students can learn many things which can not be learned through classroom teaching.

Their talents are recognized and encouraged which in turn would provide opportunity for detecting and cultivating scientific talents.Every school should organize science fair once in a year.This may include exhibits of students as well as demonstrations talks etc made by experts, film shows on scientific topic, debates , science plays etc. The science fair will provide an opportunity for the close co-operation of students, parents and teachers.

A science fair experiment is generally a competition where contestants present their science . Projects result in the form of a report display board and models that they have created.Science fairs allow students in grade schools and high schools to compete in science and technology activities.

EXHIBITION

An exhibition in the most general sense,is an organization presentation and display of a selection of items. In practice exhibition usually occur in the museums , galleries and exhibition halls and world fairs.The word exhibition is usually but not always the word used for the collection of items. Exhibitions are considered temporary and usually scheduled to open and closed and on specific dates .While many exhibitions are shown in just one venue, some exhibitions are shown multiple location .To various activities of science fair include science exhibitions arranging science related lectures and the like.

IMPORTANCE OF EXHIBITION

To focus attention on science experiences in school. To stimulate scientific attitude in science by all pupils. To stimulate a greater interest in scientific investigation. To provide stimulation for scientific hobby. To recognize and command youthful talents. To offer an opportunity for showing scientific talents.

VALUES OF SCIENCE FAIR

Science fairs provide a excellent method of sharing science projects.

Science fairs can be a motivating force for individual project. It utilizes the time of youth in a constructive way. It provides a wonderful opportunity for discovery and

encouraging science talent.

CONCLUSION

Science fairs and exhibition provide and excellent method of sharing the science projects individual small groups or entire classes with other students within the school , other school in a community, parents and other members of the community, science fairs provide opportunity for detecting and cultivating scientific talents in pupils. It will also create a greater interest in scientific investigation over the routine class work. They have intellectual psychological social and educational value.
