Some hundreds of years back there lived a lady called Murugammai in this

village. She had been a very ardent devotee of Lord Muruga here. She

always used to chant His name and praying Him, for years. Her husband

who didnt like her worshipping all the time was warning her to stop it.

But she never listened to him and her husband one day cut her arms off out

    of anger.

Even then, Murugammai cried for help only with Lord Muruga. The Lord

who was pleased with her Bhakthi, made her hands join even without the

    signs of any wound.

Lord Muruga here is called Sri Balasubramanyar and is said to be powerful,

    granting the wishes of devotees.

This beautiful temple also has Sri Annamalaiyar (Lord Shiva) and Sri

    Unnamulai Amman.

The Utsava moorthy of Lord Muruga is seen as Valli Manalar in a wedding

    posture with Sri Valli.

Lord Muruga here is believed to grant wishes for those intend to buy or

construct a house. Many people who wish to buy a house visit Lord Muruga

here for blessings to fulfill their wish.

An unique feature of this temple is the Maragatha Mayil (Peacock) the

carrier of Lord Muruga made of Green stone.

    Hi,

Just one small suggestion: to move the link to your temple album

to one side, because in its current position it obstructs some of

    your writing.

Thanks for the suggestion Kamini... Actually this was told to me

I just removed it from there...will put it in a separate page.

Again a Nice Page from Saravanan, about a nice calm temple in

    'Siruvapuri'.

Saravanan your service of posting details about many temples is a

    great thing.

that too with so nice pics... Where you get this much of pics?...

    Excellent.

Siruvapuri is now renovated by some good persons from Chennai

    (Mostly Chettiyars, doing business).

That Maragatha Peacock is a really great one. In many shiva

temples will have a small Maragatha Lingam, and they will take it

out only at that time of main puja. Here you can see a Peacock

statue itself in Maragatham (Green colour stone).

One more recent belief about that temple is doing puja will help

the persons who look for new houses or doing their construction.

They have to bring the 'Maalai' from the temple to our house.

    Sir,

my hobby is visiting old temples, that too not visited by me earlier

during my holidays. While visiting Siruvapuri Murugan Temple to

release the obstruction to my house construction, I was blessed to

visit Urgathan Perumal temple in Bajanai Koil Street of Siruvapuri.

It is an ancient temple and one priest from the nearby village is

doing one pooja. There are three perumal namely Varadarajar,

Srinivasar & Lakshmi Narayanar. In this temple two Periya

Thiruvadi Sannathi(Garudan) and number of panchaloka Idols. Also

Anjaneyar & Andal Sannathis are there. Varadharaja Perumal is a

natural suthai and there is no thirumanjanam(abishekam)and

perumal is known as Theenda Thirumedi. vaikunda Ekathasi is the

only grand festival in this temple. The above informations was

given by the priest and I dont have facility to take photograph. My

humble request is that devotees visiting Murugan temple should

    visit this temple also.

    1. Perumal Koil by name is Uragathan.

    2. Perumal is called as "Theenda Thirumeni".

For other spelling mistakes pl. forgive me.

Sri Uragathan temple is located in the same village siruvapuri

itself and in Bajanai Koil Street within the circle of 200 mtrs

surrounding. Anybody can direct you to the temple.

There is no confusion in finding this temple.
