Situation with diabetes in the Republic still

leaves much to be desired Provision with insulin and

its supplies from the government still insufficient (35.3%). Self-control supplies do not included in the budget of the government. Although National Program for Diabetes created many years ago, the government has not approved it yet.

WDF grant in 2005 helped to organize and equip centers and

schools for diabetes in all the regions of the country. Currently, computers in these centers were installed with “Register for Diabetes Mellitus in Uzbekistan” software. These will help to create a computer database for all the people with the condition from all over the country and to estimate the quality of care in every region of the Republic.

Our contacts and humanitarian aid

For the last years, we established contacts with “Insulin for Life” and “Life for a Child” which provide some of our people with insulin supplies, especially children and adolescents.

In summer 2006 “Insulin for Life” and “Insulin zum Leben”, Austria, Germany in association with Institute of Endocrinology, “NovoNordisk” office in Tashkent sponsored our summer camp activities. 76 children and adolescents were admitted for a week period to take an education on diabetes control. They learned self-control, basic nutrition, diabetes and its complications.
