Gabi Tolkowsky cut the world’s largest D Flawless diamond – the De Beers Centenary Diamond, and it was this which inspired him to create the suite of Astralis diamonds. Using the same principles which he applied to the 273 carat Centenary Diamond, he unlocks the brilliance in every precious stone. Astralis diamonds feature a unique star in every culet demonstrating the perfection of the cut and their unique facet arrangement, resulting in stones which are up to 30% brighter. The Astralis round brilliant diamond has 89 facets, featuring a visible 8 pointed star cut into the culet, a crown break and a deeper pavilion to ensure greater beauty and light performance. The Four ‘C’s

A diamond’s weight is measured in carats, abbreviated ct. One carat is equal to 0.2grams and can be divided into 100 points. Therefore, a diamond weighing one quarter of a carat can also be referred to as being 25 points.

Carat Weight

Cut It is the single most important aspect of any diamond. The proportion, finish and symmetry of the external facets of the diamond are what creates the fire and brilliance. A diamond may be colourless and flawless but if it is not cut well it will appear dull and lifeless.

Clarity

This refers to the amount and size of natural imperfections in the diamond. They may be internal (inclusions) or external (blemishes). The fewer inclusions in a diamond, the rarer and more valuable the gem. Each diamond is unique, none is absolutely perfect although some come close, but they are very rare!

Colour Diamond colour is all about what you can’t see. Diamonds are valued by how closely they approach colourlessness – the less colour, the higher their value. A diamond’s colour is determined on a colour scale from D (colourless) to Z (yellow/brown).
