before you begin your project.

Fabric Requirements: A. Pattern #24400-Blu1…...…..…...2 3/4 yards

(You will need 8+ full repeats of print. See cutting instructions step 2.)

B. Pattern #24401-Blu1…………….1 1/2 yards (or four repeats - see cutting instructions) C. Pattern #24402-Blu1.…………….....1/4 yard D. Pattern #24404-Blu1………………..5/8 yard E. Pattern #24403-Blu1……………..1 5/8 yards (This piece along with some of the scraps are used for the quilt backing) Batting………………....……....1 piece 60” x 60” Cutting Instructions: Please read all instructions carefully before beginning. All seams are a scant ¼” which is included in all measurements unless otherwise stated. Cut pieces in order listed. Label all pieces. Refer to all illustrations and the quilt image for proper cutting and assembly. * wof = width of fabric, lof =length of fabric. It is strongly recommended to heavily starch all pieces especially anywhere making a bias cuts. Fabric A - Jeans Patchwork (24400-Blu1)

1. Fussy cut two strips, 5” x lof. Begin cutting 1/2" to the left side and end cutting 1/2" past the right side of the jeans that have the bright pink background. Label: “Border 5”. (Set aside remnants to use for backing.)

Fabric B –Jeans Shelf (24401-Blu1) 1. Fussy cut four strips 4” x wof. Begin

cutting 1/4” above the blue stripe above the beads and ending 1/4" below the gray band. Label: “Border 2”.  

 Fabric C – Pocket Patchwork (24402-Blu1)

1. Fussy cut one square 7 1/2” x 7 1/2". Label “A”.

Fabric D – Piled Jeans (24405-Blu1) 1. Cut four strips 4” x wof.

Label: Border “3”. Fabric E – Denim Verbiage (24405-Blu1)

1. Cut 2 squares 12” x 12”, then sub-cut the squares in half on the diagonal to make four triangles and label “D”.

Fabric F – Small Stitching Stripe (24406-blu1) 1. Cut 4 strips 3 1/2" x lof. Begin cutting

1/4" past the grey stripe and ending 1/4" past the light blue stripe and including the dark blue stripe with pink thread. Label “Border 1”.

Fabric G – Jewels, blue (24407- Blu1)

1. Cut four strips 1” x wof. Label: “Accent strips”.

2. Cut two squares 8” x 8” then cut the squares in half on the diagonal to make four triangles and label “C”.

3. Cut four squares 3 1/2” x 3 1/2", and label “E”.

Fabric H – Denim Texture, dark blue (24408-dkblu1)

1. Cut 5 strips 1 1/2" x wof. Label: “Border 4”.

2. Cut 6 strips 2 1/2" x wof and set aside for the binding.

3. Cut eight squares 6” x 6”, then sub-cut each square in half on the diagonal to form sixteen triangles and label “B”.

4. Cut eight squares 4” x 4” then cut the squares in half on the diagonal to make sixteen triangles and label “F:

Fabric I – Denim Stripe (24403-Blu) 1. This piece, along with the remnants

from “Fabric A” will be pieced together to make the backing.

Piecing Instructions: *Please refer to the quilt image to accurately arrange the pieces for the quilt top. Because of the directionality of the fabric, it is necessary to carefully check the orientation of each piece before sewing in place. This quilt is made up of the center medallion and a variety of borders. Center Medallion

1. Center and sew a “B” piece to opposite sides of an “A” piece.

2. Center and sew a “B” piece to the

remaining two sides of the “A” piece. Square up block to measure 10 1/2".

3. Center and sew a “C” piece to opposite

sides of the unit created in step 2.

4. Center and sew a “C” piece to the

remaining two sides of the unit created in step 3. Square up to 14 1/2".

5. Center and sew a “D” piece to opposite

sides of the unit created in step 4, making sure to position the wording correctly.

6. Center and sew a “D” piece to the

remaining two sides of the unit created in step 5, making sure to position the wording correctly, to complete the center medallion.

7. Square up to measure 20 1/2” x 20 1/2”.

Corner Blocks 1. Center and sew an “F” piece to opposite

sides of an “E” piece. 2. Center and sew an “F” piece to the

remaining two sides of the “E” piece. 3. Square up to measure 4 1/2". Repeat

for a total of four blocks.

Borders

1. Center and pin in place, one of the “Border 1” strips on one edge of the

quilt top, making sure that the light blue stripe faces in towards the quilt top.

2. Sew in place, beginning and ending 1/4" from each end of the quilt top. DO NOT trim the excess fabric.

3. Repeat these steps on the remaining sides.

4. Miter the corners, and trim the excess fabric to complete the border.

5. Center and pin in place, one of the “Border 2” strips on one edge of the quilt top, making sure that the bead stripe faces in away from the quilt top

6. Sew in place, beginning and ending 1/4" from each end of the quilt top. DO NOT trim the excess fabric.

7. Repeat these steps on the remaining sides.

8. Miter the corners, and trim the excess fabric to complete the border.

9. Measure the quilt from top to bottom through the center and cut two “Border 3” strips to this measurement.

10. Sew one of these strips to each side edge of the quilt.

11. Measure the quilt from side to side through the center and cut the remaining two “Border 3” strips to this measurement.

12. Sew one of these strips to the top and one to the bottom edge of the quilt.

13. Press the “Accent strips” in half lengthwise.

14. Measure the quilt from top to bottom through the center and cut two “Accent strips” to this measurement.

15. Position one on each side edge of the quilt and baste in place. (Do not press the “Accent strip” out, but rather leave on top of “Border 3”.)

16. Measure the quilt from side to side through the center and cut two of the “Accent strips” to this measurement.

17. Position one on the top and one on the bottom edges of the quilt and baste in place.

18. Cut one of the “Border 4” strips into four equal pieces.

19. Sew one of these cut pieces to each of the four remaining “Border 4” strips with a diagonal seam.

20. Measure the quilt from top to bottom through the center and cut two of the “Border 4” strips to this measurement.

21. Sew one of the “Border 4” strips to each side edge of the quilt top.

22. Measure the quilt side to side. Cut the two remaining “Border 4” strips to this measurement.

23. Sew one of these “Border 4” strips to the top and one to the bottom edge of the quilt.

24. Measure the quilt through the center, from top to bottom. Cut one of the “Border 5” strips into two pieces, using this measurement and making sure that there are four complete repeats of the jean patch in each piece.

25. Sew a corner block to each end of these strips and set aside.

26. Measure the quilt through the center, from side to side. Cut the remaining “Border 5” strip into two pieces, using this measurement and making sure that there are four complete repeats of the jean patch in each piece.

27. Sew one the “Border 5” pieces from step 26 to the top and one to the bottom edge of the quilt, making sure to orient the pieces correctly.

28. Sew one of the “Border 5” strips + corner blocks from step 25 to each side edge of the quilt.

(Continued on the next page.) Backing The backing will need to be pieced and it is recommended that you use “Fabric J” and the remnants from “Fabric A”. To do this:

1. Cut two of the sections (approximately 12” wide), left over from “Fabric A” to measure 10” x 60”.

2. Cut the selvages off of “Fabric J” and cut the length to measure 60”.

3. Sew one of the “Fabric A” sections from step 1 to each long side of “Fabric J”.

Finishing:

1. Layer the quilt top with the batting and backing and quilt as desired.

2. Trim the backing and batting even with the quilt top.

3. Sew the binding strips end to end with a diagonal seam to form one long strip.

4. Press the strip in half, lengthwise, wrong sides together.

5. Sew to the quilt front, matching the raw edges of the binding with the edge of quilt and sew, mitering the corners.

6. Turn the binding to the back and stitch in place. Enjoy your quilt!

*Please note that the instructions for this quilt are written for the sole purpose of using the Diamonds and Denim fabric line from SPX Fabrics. If substitutions of fabric other than those stated in the instructions are used, the pattern will not yield the desired results, and may not be successful.
