safety, security & healthy development. We provide essential items to
meet the basic needs of children by collecting and distributing diapers,
clothing and equipment.

Stuff the Bus 2019 Campaign WestSide Baby believes all babies should have the diapers they need. You believe that all babies should
have the diapers they need. Yet the fact is, the effects of diaper need cross boundaries of income level,
racial background, and neighborhood; diaper need is complex – but your actions can be simple. In King
County, 23% of families struggle to afford diapers. Stuff the Bus is Seattle’s largest diaper drive and is
your opportunity to collect diapers to ensure all babies have diapers to be healthy and happy. Host a
diaper drive, donate dollars for diapers, or simply send a box of diapers to WestSide Baby today!

Why Do We Want You to Stuff the Bus? A newborn needs up to 12 diapers a day which can average $100/month. In fact, 1 in 3 families struggle to afford diapers and suffer from diaper need, a lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry and healthy. Stuff the Bus is WestSide Baby’s largest annual outreach event and Seattle’s largest diaper drive. Our network of diaper “drivers” help us by hosting drives to collect diapers from May - June to stuff our WestSide Baby bus with as many diapers possible. Our intention is to advocate for the babies and get one step closer to ending diaper need.
How Does It Work? We will provide support for you during your drive, as well as materials such as posters, diaper need fact cards, bookmarks, social media graphics and text you can share with your communities. We will be emailing you and updating our website throughout the campaign.
Tips on Successful Drives
Whether you are a business or an individual, hosting a diaper drive for Stuff the Bus can be as easy as
creating a collection area with some posters and sending emails to your office, school, friends, or
church. Here are a few creative ideas to host a Stuff the Bus drive:
Host a summer BBQ and ask guests to bring most needed items instead of food/drinks
Birthday party Stuff the Bus Drive – for all the Gemini and Cancers’ out there
Workplace Happy Hour + Stuff the Bus Diaper Drive
Use Amazon! Share our wish list with your community
Hold an in-store diaper drive with special offers or discounts for customers who donate
Most needed items in lieu of baby shower gifts
Have a donation bin at your Faith Based Organizations or place of worship
When can I deliver my diapers? Let’s celebrate!! Bring your family, bring the diapers you collected and enjoy a sweet treat at either of our WestSide Baby locations at a fun Stuff the Bus collection afternoon!

If you have made a Facebook event page for your diaper drive, please make WestSide Baby a co-host for your event.
If you are doing a drive over a period of a few days or a few weeks, make sure you post a few updates such as pictures of co-workers donating to your drive or reminders of your end date.
Don’t forget to take a picture at the end of your drive and when you deliver to WestSide Baby and share it with us!

Mission Statement WestSide Baby, in partnership with our community, provides essential items for local children in need by collecting and distributing diapers, clothing, and equipment.
WestSide Baby Facts
Started in 2001, WestSide Baby is a non-profit organization distributing essential items to local children in need, free of charge.
We partner with 114 local social services agencies such as health clinics, food banks and early education programs, who represent incredible and diverse services throughout western King County.
10,000 children aged under 3 live below the federal poverty line in King County.
Our volunteers (2,700 of them!) sort donations and fill orders for nearly 1,000 kids per week.
In 2018, we served 34,000 children.
Diaper Need: The lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby
clean, dry and healthy. 1 in 3 US families suffers from diaper need.
In 2018, we provided families with over 1.2 million diapers.
On average, 23% of all King County families have experienced diaper need.
Families of color and LGB families are 2 to 3 times more likely to experience diaper need.
To take action, we encourage our community to:

Volunteering with us! Anyone ages 8+ can volunteer with us at WestSide Baby sorting donations, filling orders, and having fun building community! We also have options to volunteer at events or take-home volunteer projects. See our website for more information.
Donate monetarily through our website. WestSide Baby can stretch your dollars and buy our most needed and most costly items such as car seats and strollers.

Car Seats - We accept car seats that are less than 6 years old, have not been in an accident and that have not been washed with harsh chemicals, like bleach.
Sizes - We serve up to Size 12 clothing. Generally, birth through elementary school age. Please make sure all clothing and equipment is clean and in good working order. Do not donate
items that have been recalled, banned, or do not meet current safety standards.
