It’s home to many of Greece's millionaires, ministers and celebrities.

Stretches out from the foot of the Hymettus Mountain and reaches out to embrace the Saronic Gulf.

The area of Aexoni, in which Glyfada is included, was inhabited in all periods of antiquity, from the prehistoric era to the Byzantine period.

From antiquity to the end of the last century, the area of Aexoni had retained its rural character. Until 1830 the area of Glyfada was covered by two consecutive Turkish estates.

The area, already from the beginning of the 20th century, has been renamed Glyfada because of some wells that existed and that had fresh water.

In 1926 the area, which until then belonged to the Mprachamiou community, became an independent community.

Today, Glyfada is crossed by the Vouliagmenis Avenue that divides (or joins) Ano Glyfada and Kato Glyfada.

Kato Glyfada is noisy, since it has the Malls and entertainment venues. A city with good transport links and a nice beach, with four marinas, golf, soccer, tennis, basketball courts and swimming pools. A city full of life and movement.

Ano Glyfada is quieter, with neighborhoods and houses away from the heavy traffic.

Things to doThings to doAt Glyfada you can have a great time doing many different things! You can go shopping on Metaxa Street, where you can find hundreds of shops of any kind. It is a great environment since it is has lots of green and it is usually full of young people, especially in the weekends.

At Glyfada you can do some sports in one of the courts, or swimming pools of the area. Also, there are many open spaces and parks for children to play and for adults to have a walk, go jogging, or ride their bicycles. The beach is another great place to have a walk and relax. Moreover, you can go to the local cinema, Cinepolis, and watch a movie.

Leisure and activities

At Glyfada you can have a meal, or a coffee at one of the luxurious restaurants and cafeterias of the area. At night you can go to one of the local bars or clubs, playing many different styles of music for every taste.
