Diet and activity affect
everything you do.
✤ Results from the 2007-2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) indicate that approximately 68% of Americans are overweight or obese.
✤ In the U.S., overweight and obesity are especially prevalent in minority groups as well as in those with lower income and less education.
✤ Research shows that quality nutrition lowers the risk of many chronic illnesses like heart disease, stroke, some cancers, diabetes and osteoporosis.
✤ Physical inactivity contributes to 300,000 preventable deaths each year in the U.S.

Wake Up!
✤ Chronic diseases are the leading killers of our Westernized society and are increasingly rampant in developing nations.
✤ Obesity, diabetes, and hypertension are now even commonplace among children.
✤ Overwhelming evidence from a variety of sources, including epidemiological, prospective cohort, and intervention studies, links most chronic diseases seen in the world today to physical inactivity and inappropriate diet consumption.
