Practice Placement Experience (PPE): 10 days
• Integrated within teaching module ‘The Practising Dietitian’
• Summative assessment: 4000 word Critical Reflective Analysis of
Professionalism
• 2 consecutive days weekly (weeks 6-10 of semester)

o Orientation to health and social care environment
o Introduction to role of a Dietitian

Informed consent
Consent is required for:• Case studies that contain specific service user/carer/family information, i.e. problems,
condition, demographic detail, unusual circumstances, employment.
• Reflection that includes service user history or other significant information (as above).
• Information about colleagues.
Consent is not required for:• Generalised reflection, focusing on practice when discussing one’s own feelings about a
situation rather than the specific circumstances of the service user.

Authorised absence: Students are expected to be available for placement. Requests should be
made in advance to Link Academic Tutor.
Failing Students
• Discuss concerns early with Link Academic Tutor
• If student not meeting expectations / unlikely to pass all assessment criteria,
make student aware
• Tripartite meeting (student, placement assessor and tutor)
