Drupal 6 got released on feb - 2008. After 3 drupal 7 has been released with some amazing features. lets see about the difference and featured added over drupal 7 than drupal 6.

● Overlay Administrative Theme : Drupal 7 has the feature that admin UI will display on the overlay. Its very useful for the non- technical users.

● Entities : The major difference in drupal 7 they introduced “Entity” concept. like all in all it may generally refers to the node,user,taxonomy etc.

● The default theme for Drupal 7 is Bartik, Drupal 6 is Garland.

● While Theme developing in .info file “engine” required in drupal 6 whereas in 7 its optional.

● API Supports they are lot of improved hooks method in drupal 7.

● Improved Support for Multi Site Installations

● Search functionality has been improved in drupal 7

The DB query we have in drupal 7 gives you option to input only the safe data with filter options. Cron related functionalities has been added more than drupal 6. update manager has been introduced in drupal 7 to manage update things through web UI interface.

● Database structure and db queries - Getting the database result in terms of object and some other query syntax has changed in drupal 7. Database limitation has took off in drupal 7. Query builder added. we can perform multiple db queries at a time in drupal 7. Added support for SQLlite engine. default is innoDB
