colonoscopy A colonoscopy is an exam

used to detect changes or abnormalities in the large intestine (colon) and rectum.

During a colonoscopy, a long, flexible tube called colonoscope that is inserted into the rectum. A tiny video camera at the tip of the tube allows the physician to view the inside of the entire colon. If necessary, polyps or other types of abnormal tissue can be removed through the scope during a colonoscopy. Tissue samples or biopsies can be taken during a colonoscopy as well

Hematochezia Rectal bleeding (known

medically as hematochezia) refers to passage of bright red blood from the anus, often mixed with stool and/or blood clots. Most rectal bleeding comes from the colon, rectum, or anus. The color of the blood during rectal bleeding often depends on the location of the bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.

Anastomosis

Anastomosis is the connection of normally separate parts or spaces so they intercommunicate.

An anastomosis may be naturally occurring or artificially constructed and be created during the process of embryonic development or by surgery, trauma or pathological means.

An anastomosis may, for example, connect two blood vessels.

it may connect the healthy sections of the colon o r rectum after a cancerous or otherwise diseased portion has been surgically removed

Cachexia Cachexia: Physical

wasting with loss of weight and muscle mass caused by a disorder or disease .

Patients with advanced cancer, AIDS and some other major chronic progressive diseases may appear cachectic.

Cachexia can occur in people who are eating enough, but who cannot absorb the nutrients. Cachexia is not the same as starvation

A healthy person's body can change to starvation by slowing down its use of nutrients, but in cachectic patients, the body does not make this adjustment.
