Digipak Research
Digipaks typically consist of a gatefold (book-style) paperboard or card stock outer binding,
with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. Since
Digipaks were among the first alternatives to jewel cases to be used by major record
companies, and because there is no other common name for Digipak-style packaging made
by other companies.
Digipak-style packaging is often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums and the
tall DVD Digipak (DVDigipak) is used as a premium package for DVDs and DVD sets

Below is an example of a digipak album cover which I created using Photoshop, however
this album cover could not be used as the image is a very well known one since it was used
in the film ‘V For Vendetta’ therefore may cause problems and could have been used for
something else which wouldn’t make our idea original.
However in creating this draft it made us realise what we should do for our album cover,
and made us gather ideas for what we should do for our final cover.
We then got the idea that we should take a shot of the
artist in a mask holding a microphone and taking over
a TV screen. Although this was a creative idea we
decided as a group that it did not look very
professional and therefore we could use the same
image and simplify it to make it look more appealing and
at the same time look more professional.
Combining all the ideas together helped us come up with
the final idea which was a shot of the artist again holding a
microphone but however in black and white. This was more
suitable as it followed the conventions of our music video
which was the concept of two sides such as good and evil,
black and white etc.
