My research• Use of digital media for entertainment and
education, especially by young people• What do we do when we are online?• How do we interact with digital devices?• What are the benefits, what are the risks?• How do we represent ourselves online? What do
we share with others online?• What is our digital footprint?• How to stay safe online?
What is a digital footprint?Simply put, it is everything on the internet about you including:• Social media profiles• Images/photos of you• Any information or content
posted by you online• Your search history• Data on many other
activities that you do online that you leave behind

Now that you’ve done the warm up, we can move on to the main
building tasks…
Task 4 (5 mins):
Build a model that captures the things you do when you are online (your ‘digital

What are the positives, what are the risks?
Write some brief comments about your model on a post-it note.
Share your models with your group.
Ask questions, comment on each others’ models.
Notes
Task 5 (5 mins):
Now build a model that captures how to get the best out of the internet and stay safe online.
Share your model with your group.
Place your models around the sheet of paper. As a group,
write a list with advice for staying safe online on the sheet, based on
your models.
