My Thoughts• I absolutely agree with Marc Prensky.– Reasons:• I see Digital Natives everyday in my classroom.
– My students cannot retain knowledge through lecture.– They learn more through videos and student-made
presentations.– They show me how to use my computer.
• I see Digital Immigrants everyday in the Teacher’s Lounge. – Teachers complain that students just do not learn like they
use to.– Teacher would rather show transparencies then use a laptop
with a Smartboard
Instructional Technology in the Classroom
• Technology in the classroom can:– Make learning fun!– Keep the students’ attention.– Makes teaching easier.– Allows students to create their own
learning.– Allows for more instructional
differentiation.
Implications of this Information
• For Me:– Create lessons more appropriate for the students.– Understand “where” they are coming from.– Further my knowledge about instructional
technology.
• For Students:– More opportunities for learning. – More understanding from teachers.– Expansion of the technological intelligence.
Are Students Different Then They Were 30 Years Ago?
• OF COURSE!!!!!– Isn’t the world around us different?– Here are two videos that agree:• A Vision of Students Today• 21st Century Pedagogy
Final Thoughts
• As I read these articles I kept shaking my head in agreement.
• These articles explain the things I see in my school in both the classroom and the Teachers’ Lounge.
• I believe this gives me confidence in what I a doing to further these kids education because now I know that what I am doing is making a difference.
