INTRODUCTION
Entering the Australian market can be difficult. Your company needs time to validate the market, develop an Australian strategy and deploy necessary resources to succeed.
Significant time and money can be spent even before you start gaining traction in the market. It is a challenge experienced by all New Zealand companies entering Australia.
To address this challenge, NZTE has partnered with two organisations to establish four landing pads: York Butter Factory (YBF) in Melbourne and Hub Australia in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
The landing padsThe landing pads aim to support the development of New Zealand technology companies that work with NZTE and are looking to enter, establish and grow in the Australian market.
By basing yourself in one of the landing pads, you will have access to an ecosystem that includes innovative corporates and start-ups, high-quality events, advisory services, workshops and business development opportunities.
Further support will be provided by one of NZTE’s Business Development Managers (BDM). This BDM will work alongside you to help you achieve your strategic goals and guide you on your growth journey.
LocationsNZTE’s partnerships with YBF and Hub Australia give you the option of being based in the Landing Pad that best suits your needs. All Landing Pads have a unique office space, a thriving startup community and all the standard amenities you need to launch your business in Australia.

To date, the program has attracted nine New Zealand technology businesses, that have actively participated in advisory sessions and workshops covering a range of essential business topics, such as: business development, financial modelling, customer acquisition, cash flow projections and capital raising.
YBF has also facilitated a number of high-level introductions to their comprehensive corporate and startup network.
Since launching the partnership, the program has helped the nine New Zealand participants achieve over $1 million in deals, with another $1 million in the sales pipeline.

“There are a number of people in-house at York Butter Factory that we could call on, from those with graphic design skills to those that could help with websites. It was an invaluable experience and without it, it would have been very difficult for us to gain access to some of the industry players that we did.”
Gareth Ross Director of BuildMedia, York Butter Factory Alumni
“The York Butter Factory Accelerator Programme is ideal for any NZ company looking to make a commitment to the Australian market, understand the differences and immerse themselves in an environment with like-minded people.”

YBF is our high engagement model, where YBF staff and NZTE work closely with you and play an active role in facilitating connections and deal opportunities, and providing expert advisory services and guidance. If you are looking to base yourself in Melbourne, and seeking a high level of guidance and industry connections, YBF is the ideal choice for your Australian market entry.
Hub Australia is the landing pad for our lower engagement model. The community team is on hand to support you and your business, are happy to connect you with others and invite you to key events. As a member of Hub Australia, you have the flexibility to move and work between their three landing pads in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide as needed, subject to your membership category.
If you’d like a trial working from one of the landing pads for a day, this can be arranged.
What happens when I arrive?
Your new landing pad will be set up and ready for you to work from day one. In those first weeks, you will be integrated into the community and work closely with NZTE to plan your initial six months at your landing pad, outlining the strategic outcomes you want to achieve.
Who should apply?
The landing pads suits New Zealand technology companies that are already working with NZTE, and have Australia as key growth market.
Applicants must be prepared to give Australia the focus and priority that is required to succeed. It takes a strong commitment, and NZTE recommends you to have at least one staff member in the landing pad full time to maximise your chances of success in Australia.
WHICH SPACE SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?
NZTE supportNZTE will co-invest 40 percent of the cost for your first six months at YBF or Hub Australia. Your investment depends on the choice of landing pad and the number of staff you station. You can choose to stay at your landing pad beyond six months, at an arrangement made with your chosen provider.
NZTE does not cover any expenses outside the program, including flights, accommodation or other living expenses.
