About The Summit

Mark Hollinshead is Chief Operating Officer of Trinity Mirror Plc. He is responsible for all publishing and editorial operations across the £700m turnover Group which comprises over 130 print titles and 200+ companion websites. The flagship brand the Daily Mirror sells 1m copies per day in print and reaches 24m UU every month through it's online brand Mirror.co.uk. Prior to becoming COO he was Managing Director of Mirror Group Newspapers and the Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail Ltd. He spent the early part of his career working in advertising agencies.Pearson Education: Expanding Story Telling for the Next Generation.

No one medium has ever replaced another so they say! What about the Town Crier? The original stringer or citizen journalist! In the newspaper sector the business model is under pressure with structural and social factors continuing to impact consumer reading habits and advertiser behaviour. Trinity Mirror are adapting to the new 24 hour dynamic digital environment by fast tracking their publishing strategy to meet the needs of readers in the way that they are consuming content in different ways across multiple channels and devices. Mark will talk us through how Trinity Mirror are reimagining their business from   that of a traditional Newspaper centric organisation into one where they sell Newsbrands and audiences rather than black and white full pages. He'll give us a frank and straightforward account of Trinity Mirror's journey so far in the quest to accelerate digital revenue growth while seeking to stabilise print advertising trends.

Milo Yiannopoulos is a journalist and entrepreneur who has written for the Telegraph, the Observer, the Wall Street Journal, the Times, the Spectator and Attitude. He is founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Kernel, an online magazine about technology, media and politics.Milo has been called a "rising star of the Right" by the   Spectator,   the "pit bull of tech media" by the Observer, "digital media's Citizen Kane" by Forbes and a "cynical, ignorant fucker" by Stephen Fry.

SEIZING A SECOND CHANCE Launched in 2011, The Kernel was a bold new online magazine about technology, media and politics. It experienced explosive growth, rapid notoriety and it built a strong subscriber base.   But, in early 2013, the magazine ran out of money. What went wrong? And what was considered salvageable by The Kernel's new investors, who are relaunching it in August 2013 with a new commercial team and fresh investment? Milo Yiannopoulos, editor of The Kernel and one of the original founders, explains what the team has learned about online publishing from this brave new media experiment.

I am a London based writer who specialises in men's lifestyle and technology. I've been nominated twice for new journalist of the year, and have a range of experience across magazines, websites and iPad editions spanning seven years. Over the past two years I have contributed on a daily basis to AskMen.com, maintain a technology blog for Huffington Post, a columnist at Business Weekly, a cultural commentator for Chorus+Echo, and have written for FHM, MSN Him, GQ, Mr Porter, Wired UK, Project, Men's Health and ShortList. I have also written for StyList, FT Weekend, Zoo, Nuts and Virgin Magazine. Presentation Abstract Coming Soon....

I'd like to explore the evolution of digital publishing from the perspective of the content creator. In particular my own personal journey and how it has mirrored trends on a larger scale in the UK. I started out as a staff writer at a free men's magazine (ShortList), which only created a digital platform as an after thought to the print offering. This was a trend in many magazines and is still the case with a lot of the more luxury platforms. Today, traditional print mediums are playing catch up with digital native platforms such as Askmen and MSNHim who more readily understood the needs of online audiences.
