    2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments

Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences andassessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize contentlearning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identifiedin the NETSS. Teachers:

    a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digitaltools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.

    b. develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable allstudents to pursue their individual curiosities and become activeparticipants in setting their own educational goals, managing their ownlearning, and assessing their own progress.

    c. customize and personalize learning activities to address students'diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital toolsand resources.

    d. provide students with multiple and varied formative and summativeassessments aligned with content and technology standards and useresulting data to inform learning and teaching.

    PURPOSE

The purpose of the digital video is to explain what classroom response systemsare and how they facilitate student learning and assessment. We will also discussdifferent types of audience feedback mechanisms, and weigh the pros and cons of each,

as well as demonstrate how each is used in a secondary school environment.

    TARGET AUDIENCE

The target audience consists of professional educators of various ages and culturalbackgrounds, who have attained at least an undergraduate degree, and who has, at theminimum, basic knowledge of computers, Web 2.0 applications, social networking

websites, and mobile devices. Individuals who are identified as visual, auditory, andtactile/kinesthetic learners would receive the most benefit from this resource.

    KELLERS ARCS MODEL OF MOTIVATION

To gain the attention of the target audience, we will raise curiosity by posing theproblem of addressing students needs and gauging students understandings in a timelymanner.

We will then address the relevance of the material by suggesting that classroomresponse systems may solve the problems of poor student participation and lack of student engagement. Furthermore, classroom response technology is applicable tovirtually any academic setting.

The methods used in certain classroom response systems are an extension of skillsand technologies that are already being used by most of the student population and the

target audience. Therefore, learners will have the confidence to implement classroomresponse technologies by using familiar tools and viewing examples provided in thevideo.

The target audience will gain satisfaction in knowing how to use technology togaining immediate student feedback. With a better understanding of studentsdeficiencies, strengths, interests and perspectives, the target audience will be betterequipped in guiding their teaching strategies and adapting to their students needs beforemajor formative evaluations.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Using the digital video as a resource, secondary school instructors will be able toselect the most appropriate classroom response method for their students, and implementan accurate and cost-effective classroom response system in their schools by the start of the next academic year (Fall 2011).
