INTRODUCTION
For a new home entertainment networking solution
that integrates entertainment content in multiple
data formats into a single cable,DIIVA is created.
About DiiVA
Leading consumer electronics and home appliance manufacturers have joined together to form the Digital Interactive Interface for Video & Audio™ (DiiVA™).
with the mission to build the next-generation, global, interactive consumer electronics and home networking standard.
What is DiiVA??
In addition, there is an uncompressed video and audio channel
DiiVA technology combines a reliable high-speed, bi-directional data channel over a single interface
Allow users to connect, configure and control various home CE devices from their Digital TVs.
Core subsystem includes:
Digital Media Processor At the heart of the system, TI's family of Digital Media Processors can handle complex processing streams
TI-based STB can support content from a home network or from the Internet. TI’s fully programmable devices enable quick compatibility
The DSPs are software-compatible the software investment can be re- used across various products, reducing development time and cost.
MCU
The MSP430 microcontroller can be used for managing the interface with the remote control
managing the power consumption of the unit through control and application of several different operating modes.
The MSP430 can enable longer battery life in the remote and a drastic decrease in the power consumption
Video Interface -Audio Interface
The video source to be decoded/encoded is selected by the ADC/DAC and DSP.
video front end and output stages require high-performance op-amps to amplify the video signal
high SNR and analog low-pass filtering, a high-quality audio output is guaranteed.
User Interface
Allows the user to control video/audio I/O sources and communication with the system network.
The user interface also includes connectivity to the remote control via an IrDA or low-power wireless device residing on the unit itself as well as on the remote control unit.
Power Conversion
Including the AC-to-DC conversion to create the main power for the unit itself
Every functional block in the STB requires a particular power solution; main processor, DDR memory, tuner and video/analog signal chains.
TI offers all necessary power solutions to meet
stringent energy conservation mandates
The Digital Interactive Interface for Video & Audio™ (DiiVA™) was created to offer a new home entertainment networking solution that integrates entertainment content in multiple data formats into a single cable
Uncompressed video, audio, USB, Ethernet, device control, content protection, power delivery and power management are coordinated throughout the DiiVA network
DiiVA simplifies the interface technology in the home, providing ease-of-use and helping users maximize their multimedia entertainment experience.
DiiVA’s enormous bandwidth and bidirectional data channel coupled with its networking protocol allow any DiiVA-equipped TV to access and control any DiiVA-equipped source device

Technology Comparison
Technology comparison
DiiVA is an ideal solution for bridging CE, personal computers and mobile devices within a single home network
DiiVA technology combines a reliable, high-speed, bi-directional data channel with an uncompressed video and audio channel.
DiiVA as a Green Technology
Applying proven concepts to deliver power over data wires , the DiIVA specification has provisions to send power through the cable.
With four twisted pairs in a standard DiiVA cable, DiiVA can deliver a total of 5W from a single device to adapters, repeaters and mobile devices .
Power over DiiVA (PoD) can also power the DiiVA interface portion of devices in standby mode
The Power over DiiVA protocol benefits users by detecting unused devices on the network that are powered on and automatically putting them in standby mode to save energy.
ADVANTAGESA dedicated band is used for bidirectional transmission.
The DIVA has a total transmission rate of 18Gbps,.
Three of the four wires are used for video and audio signals, and one for bidirectional data transmission
