Highly durable roller-type timing chain ensuresmaintenance-free operation and the ratchetembedded hydraulic auto-tensioner is appliedto prevent chain-slippage and noise.

The centre of crank-shaft is offset from thecentre of cylinder block's bore to reducefriction-loss at explosion-strokes. Expeditedcombustion by reduced speed ofpiston leads to optimization of fuel economy.

GDI exclusive piston

• Piston shape facilitates fuel to be injected directly into the cylinder. Newly designed internal coolant flow

Cylinder block and bed platethe high-pressure casted aluminium cylinder block and the bed plate im-prove dynamic stiffness and NVH of the lower structure of cylinder block. Weight is reduced by about 30% and structural rigidity is improved by about 30%.
