What is Dinner Dates?
Dinner Dates is recognised as the UK’s leading
dining and social events private members’ club
for professional single people. With over 16,000
members, Dinner Dates continues to grow under
the management of Cynthia and Peter Spillman.
Supported by a dedicated in-house events team,
Cynthia and Peter are fully-involved in Dinner
Dates and take a real hands-on approach to
running the organisation. A past member of
Dinner Dates herself, Cynthia’s now an
acknowledged expert on singles’ issues herself.
She understands the singles’ scene inside out,
helping to ensure that Dinner Dates remains
tuned in to the requirements of its members.
What Dinner Dates is not:
We’re not a dating or matchmaking service,
although we provide many opportunities to
meet up with like-minded members of the
opposite sex. This year alone, we’ve already
seen 2 couples get married to each other. We
see ourselves as a buzzy, social networking
organisation, helping our members to have fun
and to make new friends. We offer a tried and
tested formula which works.
What we offer
Dinner Dates offers a highly personalised, but
discreet service. Each event is meticulously
planned, with a structured approach, based on
many years of experience. We only ever use
London’s best venues for our events. Members
attend our dinner and drinks parties, black tie
balls, nights at the theatre, opera and ballet,
visits to museums, activity days, holidays and
the wide variety of other events which we
organise throughout the year. We guarantee to
always have an equal number of ladies and
gentlemen attending our dinners and balls.
How it works
When you contact us, you’ll be assisted by one
of our friendly and approachable, client services
staff. All of our events are hosted by at least
one host and most by two hosts. Our host and
hostesses are fully-trained by us, hand-picked
for their social skills and caring natures. On
arrival you’ll be greeted by name and introduced
to other guests during the pre-dinner drinks
reception. Nobody is ever left stranded. If you
attend a dinner or ball, you’ll be seated next to
guests within a similar age group. To cater for
all ages, we even offer additional “younger
party” events. At our dinners, the gentlemen

move to a different place after the main course,
so as to maximise the number of people you
engage with. After the event, one of our team
will call you for feedback and to enquire whether
you’d like another guest’s contact details. If so,
we’ll request permission from the other party to
do this. Personal details are never passed on
without consent. Fully committed to offering you
a sterling service, we always act on the feedback
you give us.
Who joins Dinner Dates?
Accountants, judges, solicitors, barristers,
advertising executives, art and antiques dealers,
doctors, company directors, people on “The
Times Rich List” – to name but a very few. In
short, people who want to be assured of a great
evening, in a top notch venue with others from
a similar professional background and age
range. We welcome people of all backgrounds
and ages.
Is Dinner Dates right for me?
Dinner Dates members are a mixed bunch.
Some are confident, sociable and outgoing,
others more reserved and somewhat shy. Some
already have a large circle of friends, while
others may be wishing to re-launch themselves
socially, perhaps having just come out of a long
term relationship. Some join to look for Mr or
Ms “Right”, others may simply wish to increase
their circle of friends.
What the press say about us:
“Dinner Dates a unique solution to the lonely
but proud, we could all pretend we were at a
normal dinner party. They throw such good
dinner parties.” The Times
“The evening turned out to be a great giggle.
Going to these agency nights have been fun
and I’ll continue to use them. And you never
know, I might meet the man of my dreams.”
Daily Mail
Peter and Cheryl met in July. “I’d been to four
evenings which were quite enjoyable but there
were no fireworks,” says Peter, “until Cheryl
came along and I couldn’t keep my eyes off her
all evening!” Luckily, Cheryl returned his
ardour and three months later, she accepted
Peter’s proposal. The following Valentine’s Day,
the couple celebrated à deux – Dinner Dates
had served Cupid’s purpose. BBC Good Food
