India is a land of rich and vibrant festivals that serves as a testimony to our diverse
tradition and culture. It helps us to understand and appreciate the rich heritage of our
country and learn about the fascinating stories and importance of the various festivals.
Each and every festival is celebrated uniquely and has its own history, legend and
significance of celebration. For students, it is a great way and opportunity to understand
the rich and vibrant heritage of India. So, besides excelling themselves in academics, the
aim of the school also lies in exposing them to an assortment of our vibrant, mythical and
fascinating culture as well as the heritage of our country through the different special
assemblies. The month of August was an amalgamation of colorful festive assemblies and
intellectual, thought provoking and motivating academic events.
The festive month of August kick started with the Raksha Bandhan celebration. Raksha
bandhan is one of the most endearing ways to celebrate the bond between brothers and
sisters. To strengthen this bond, a Special Assembly was organized by the students of
Grade VI at DPS- Miyapur on 3rd August, 2017. The celebrations saw an inspiring show,
put up by the students. The students also beautifully depicted the significance of this
festival through a skit which included mythological stories and the famous story of
Humayun and Rani Karnavati related to the origin of the festival. The main purpose of this
skit was to make children aware of the bond of love between brothers and sisters that
transcends the confines of the family. The programme was enjoyed by the students and
teachers alike.
