Career Opportunity – Director, Facilities Operations Movati Athletic is looking for a Director, Facilities Operations to oversee the improvement and maintenance of exceptional facilities across all Movati Athletic Club locations. This position can be based in Windsor or Ottawa, depending on the location of the successful candidate. Overview Reporting to the Vice President, Facilities and New Construction, and under the direction of the Head of Club Operations, the Director, Facilities Operations plays a critical functional leadership role as part of the Movati Athletic corporate club operations leadership team. In addition to developing strategic facilities maintenance plans, programs and standards, the Director of Facilities Operations will take a lead role in building and enhancing the capacity of the facilities operations management team. The ideal candidates for this role can think and plan strategically, as well as execute at a tactical level. Key Responsibilities: Club Maintenance & Project Management: o Ensures all Movati Athletic building assets are promptly and safely maintained. This includes repair and preventative maintenance of fitness equipment, maintenance of electrical components, audio & video systems, monitoring and operating pools, basic plumbing, painting, window cleaning, etc., across all Movati Athletic club locations. o Oversees all maintenance and annual building inspections including preventative maintenance related to fire safety and sprinkler systems, across all Movati Athletic club locations. o Manages qualified technical vendor selection and agreements, across all Movati Athletic club locations. o Oversees design, construction schedules and monitoring progress of various facilities projects. o Creates, updates, and implements systems, processes and standard operating procedures for all maintenance and repair activities, across all Movati Athletic club locations. Occupational Health & Safety: o Ensures compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety legislative requirements, across all Movati Athletic club locations. o Oversees coordination and administration of all inspections and licenses across all Movati Athletic club locations. o Identifies and implements loss prevention strategies and techniques, across all Movati Athletic club locations. Accountable for effective management, and reporting of all safety incidents and/or losses.

o Creates and implements safety, emergency operations and contingency plans company-wide and for individual club locations.

o Establishes and implements Workplace Health & Safety practices and procedures.

• Financial Performance: o Partners with corporate Finance to build annual Facilities Operations budget

for corporate and all locations. o Partners with corporate Finance to approve capital expenditures, in accordance

with monthly and annual budgetary allocation and guidelines.

• People & Relationship Management: o Oversees selection, training and orientation of Facilities Operations Managers in

all Club locations. o Provides coaching, mentorship, feedback, recognition and support to club level

Facilities Operations Managers. o Provides Facilities Operations management team with timely performance

assessment, feedback and recognition. o Leads weekly Facilities Operations management meetings ensuring effective

communication, planning, coordination and alignment. Shares best practices and to provide integrated, consistent services and operations.

• Club Operations: o As a member of the corporate club operations leadership team, develops an in-

depth understanding of club operations and key functions across all departments with a view to improving processes and services while driving total club revenue and profitability.

Key Qualifications: • A related University degree and/or Technical certification in a related field are strongly

preferred.

• Preferred professional experience: o 7+ years related Facilities Operations or Building Maintenance experience and

related working technical knowledge with a strong record of achieving preventative maintenance and capital expenditure budget goals. Demonstrated record of process improvement.

o 5+ years of leadership and people management experience including proven success in leading, coaching and motivating teams and individuals to achieve goals and objectives across multiple locations. Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence all levels of the organization.

o Pool maintenance knowledge and experience are preferred. o Related industry experience preferred (i.e. retail, hospitality, leisure, fitness, etc.). o A thorough knowledge of general maintenance procedures. o Demonstrated understanding of safe work practices and Occupational Health &

Safety requirements and legislation.

     

     

o Ability to work with a sense of urgency and demonstrate a “roll up the sleeves” mentality.

o Ability to work flexible hours, and the flexibility to travel extensively (up to 50% of the time; weekly).
