Thank you for your interest in becoming our next Director of Fundraising.

The widely accepted meaning of ‘Kisharon’ is talent or ability, which is exactly what we are all about as an organisation.

My mission as Chief Executive of Kisharon is for us to maximise talent, which is an all-encompassing ambition that applies equally to the children, young people and adults we work to support as well as to the incredibly dedicated donors, staff and volunteers who make our work possible.

Every day I am truly inspired by the transformative results of the amazing work that we do, achieved by a remarkable staff group who believe in realising the potential of everyone with a learning disability – all of which is underpinned by our fundraising from the community.

Kisharon has been recognised and validated by multiple awards and accreditations, both nationally and internationally, be it from the National Autistic Society, our multiple EVCOMM awards, the Charity Times and ‘The Ruderman Foundation’ awards, however most important to us is our CQC and OFSTED status in service of the people we support with learning disabilities.

None of this recognition can bear true testament to the impact you directly can have in ensuring that funding is available to enable a child attending Tuffkid Nursery to sit up for the first time; or to enable a pupil at Kisharon School with no mobility to appear in his first school play; or to enable a Kisharon College student to travel independently for the first time on public transport in preparation for future employment and independent living.

Your impact will be our future heritage, and one on which I want to see us build on our rich and exemplary track record.

Kisharon is an exciting, stimulating and rewarding place to work and the Director of Fundraising role is your opportunity to deploy your talent to achieve meaningful and tangible impact on both individual and family lives that has a much wider benefit to the communities we serve.

I sincerely hope that you will seize this opportunity and I do look forward to hearing from you.

3WELCOME

Richard Franklin Chief Executive

WHAT WE DO

Fundraising at Kisharon

Our Fundraising has grown year on year through embedding quality fundraising practice alongside a clear case for support to all Kisharon people and its services.

The importance of experience, adaptability and team work across departments and the organisation generally has proven essential to garnering momentum in developing the donor base as well as recency, frequency and value of donor support.

With a focus on Major Donor, Trust and Capital programme support, blended with events, challenge-based fundraising direct marketing and individual giving campaigns this is a full service department where both a breadth and depth of expertise are required to retain and develop relations where expectations are high, and generosity, commitment and support is even higher.

Maintaining and developing the dynamic progression of recent years is a number one priority.

With crowd fundraising more than improving income and ROI’s previously raised through Gala Dinners prior to the Covid Pandemic, attention now turns to determining and delivering on the appropriate blend of major donor initiatives alongside a broad mix of events, challenges, and direct marketing appeals to propel the charity forward, an appropriate level and balance of Directorial and Leadership Relationship development, Asker, Logistical, Creative, and imaginative skill sets will propel the charity to the next stage in its fast-moving development and growth.

Our dedicated trustees and key donors will take a keen and positive interest in our work and the wider issues for the education and life opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities. Our donor supporter base also extends across the community we serve.

Personal experience can be the driver for our supporters as well as our fundraising committees – and with it comes a deep passion for our work.

Our fundraising works in tandem with our services, and which includes our innovative Social Enterprise. By way of example, promotions connected to our direct marketing appeals over the Jewish holidays also raises awareness of the Kisharon name into over 4,000 households.

With £2m+ revenue income needed annually from the community (and with additional capital fundraising campaigns such as our recent £13.5m new school campus campaign - there are others also on the immediate horizon) voluntary income is pivotal to our realistic ambitions of continuing to change the landscape, attitudes and understanding in relation to learning disabilities – not to mention delivering on our promise to maximise on the “Kisharon” – talents – of all people with learning disabilities.
