St. John’s Preparatory School 72 Spring Street Danvers, Massachusetts 01923 Director of Multicultural Affairs and Community Development St. John’s Preparatory School seeks a dynamic, team-oriented leader committed to our call to be an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for boys in grades 6 through 12. “We believe diversity is a gift, a living educational resource that demonstrates the interconnectedness of life, inspires critical thinking, promotes compassionate action, and prepares students for the dynamic world beyond St. John’s.” (Diversity and Inclusivity Statement) The Director of Multicultural Affairs and Community Development serves as a member of the Principal’s Leadership Team and reports directly to the Principal/Associate Head of School. Specifically, the director will: Co-chair the Diversity Advisory Council and work with its members to lead the school in the implementation of recommendations from the school’s diversity and inclusivity climate assessment. Work with school leadership, faculty/staff and students to continually evaluate current structures, policies, and attitudes to help sustain a school culture that promotes cultural proficiency and equity. Build positive and productive relationships with parents, students, faculty, staff and school leadership. Work with faculty and school leadership to assess, design and implement an inclusive curriculum. Collaborate with the Assistant Principal for Student Life, Assistant Principal of Academics for Grades 9 & 10 and school counselors to support international students and their host families during their time at St. John’s. Provide faculty and staff with multicultural educational resources to support them in their work with international and domestic students. Engage school leadership, faculty and staff with meaningful professional learning experiences focused on diversity and inclusivity. Collaborate with student life personnel to design and implement programs for students in grades 6 through 12 to promote an inclusive school community. Collaborate with the Office of Admission, and the Director of Admission, to facilitate the recruitment, transition, and retention of racially, ethnically and socioeconomically underrepresented students and their families. Collaborate with Assistant Head of School for Finance/Chief Financial Officer and Director of Admission on tuition assistance allocation. Support human resource efforts to recruit and retain faculty/staff of color. Build strategic internal and external partnerships to promote diversity and inclusivity work at St. John’s.

• Serve as a member of the Academic Council, Professional Learning Committee, Retention Committee, and various task forces.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/Associate Head of School.

Qualified candidates should hold an advanced degree in education or a related field. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. A focus on teamwork, collaborative leadership, strategic thinking and workflow and the ability to effectively manage time and multiple tasks are essential.
